cancelling meeting fudcon managua 2014

It was agreed that a meeting for fudcon planning for Managua 2014 event will be held tonight. I regret that I have to cancel this meeting. I have been swamp with other stuff and there is no advance to report or discuss. Local team will have a face to face meeting tomorrow. I plan to address the issue of "hit by a bus scenario". Departing May 22, return May 26: Singapore Airlines: 1194AUD [[BR]] Quantas: 1247AUD [[BR]] Air china: 1179 [[BR]] Air asia: limited flights on May 22 for 300$, but no returns for May 26, 27, 28 Hotel: I'm OK with whatever the organizers set up. I'll share a room with another attendee, probably Suchakra if he makes it. * If we cannot provide a full subsidy, will a partial subsidy be helpful? (Yes/No?) Yes. * If Yes, specify the minimum amount you need covered to facilitate your attendance. I'd prefer to take either quantus or singapore airlines even if they're slightly expensive. I can manage about 400$ from my pocket, so a partial subsidy of around 700-800$ would be OK too. * What will you accomplish by being at FUDCon? (Please be as specific as possible, since this is the most important factor in granting requests.) The accepted talks haven't exactly been announced, but from the logs, I appear to have 2 sessions accepted. Both of them are more hands on work than just presentations. I intend to help Suchakra with his rpm packaging workshop and then get volunteers to package up software for the ROS platform. The robotics SIG is trying to complete an SCL and host it on COPR. I'm going to begin taking IRC classrooms to prepare people for these sessions. The other is a GPG signing party aimed at increasing the web of trust and adding. I'll use it as a community building exercise. The organizers have requested that I modify the other two sessions into lightening talks: starting QA in 5 minutes, a quick Fedora.next update. I also intend to discuss other teams that I'm a part of: marketing and the "fedora join" SIG to help new candidates join the community. * If you are requesting airfare, include complete flight information such as flight numbers, desired departure and arrival airports, and times. I am afraid, not. However I am willing to pay for an extra day of stay (26 May). * If Yes, specify the minimum amount you need covered to facilitate your attendance. I am planning to give a talk about Ansible and its usage in Fedora Infra, hoping to recruit more contributor for the same. From the irc logs, it seems that this is approved. I also want to meet the people behind Fedora and community once again. It would be nice to talk to people in person. I have also proposed a Docker workshop where I want to give an introduction to Docker and tell users about how to run it on Fedora. This hasn't been approved yet but this can be conducted on short notice if there is enough time and interest among attendees. Other than this I hope to attend some really great talks and hackfests. I am a Fedora contributor and Ambassador and I have been a speaker at FUDCon, Pune and Kuala Lumpur, FOSS.in and GNUnify. * If you are requesting airfare, include complete flight information such as flight numbers, desired departure and arrival airports, and times. Also let us know if you have specific time restrictions. This is tentative. I will try to book the most economical and suitable flight. Following is cheapest according to Kayak at the moment. Arrival: Cathay Pacific Mumbai to Beijing, Wednesday 22 May: Flight 684 + Flight 6102 Departure: Cathay Pacific Beijing to Mumbai, Monday 27 May: Flight 6109 + Flight 699 I tried Air China as well but it has layovers of more than 20 hours which is certainly not a good situation. * Do you need a visa or other official processing before you can attend FUDCon? If so, approximately how long does that processing take? Yes, I'll need visa and a supporting letter. Fedora videos talk would help us to introduce the video group to the folks who are still not aware of it, and help us to involve new folks in the videos group. Fedora women will be more kind of interactive session, it will be towards discussing the current state of women in FOSS & their involvement in the Fedora project in APAC.
