I am sure, most of the people working with Fedora I18N, L10N from 5-6
year must be aware regarding Fedora L10N Steering Committee. As far
as i know this committee was active around 2009 and very effective.
During Fedora G11N activity day discussions, we again felt there is
need for some kind of official committee to drive Fedora Globalization
activities. Fedora is growing faster with number of different domains
and G11N also need to adapt those changes quickly to remain on the track.
For this purpose and in line with , we were thinking of Fedora
Globalization steering committee. I have created initial proposal for
Its open for feedback, please feel free to share other active members,
discuss in your respective language groups. This is just initial
proposal and i am sure, we can improve and make it more effective with
I have looked through devel team schedule closer, and decided to propose
the move of all software translation related events rather than the add
another translation deadline, to minimize the impact to devel and
Rel-Eng teams. However I only have translator's view and not
developer's. If you think this is impossible with some reason, let me
know. Also it is much appreciated any input.
I am sure many members involved in trans, i18n, zanata and fltg will be
there. This is good chance to have couple hours meetup and review present
state and plan for coming 2 releases of Fedora.
I have created page for g11n flock 2016 . Please add your name on
page and add topic if anything in mind.
because of spam, contributors need to be in one of the special groups to
edit wiki (often annotated as CLA+1).
Most of the translation contributors aren't in those groups...
Localization team engagement is already difficult : create FAS, create
bugzilla, register at trans, register at trans-LOCALE, introduce
yourself, log in Zanata with FAS, as to be added. It can take days, if
you do it right, because if you start register with zanata, then
subscribe with your email to trans then create fas, then realise your
login is already taken, you'll lose a lot of time...
Do someone have an idea about how to make this easier ?
All the details are here :
At the moment, the only one we currently have dedicated to translators
is cvsl10n. But I'm not sure the answer is to have every contributors in
cvsl10n group or in cvsl10n-LOCALE would make it more simply.
We used to have it at 04:30UTC on Wed. Unfortunately i will not able to
host it this week. Anyone else interested to do so?
From topic side, we do have few in line. Discussed few with Jean and on
mailing list earlier.
1. trans bug list to track translations bugs
2. fedorahosted trac specific for trans.
3. Any other topic..
