Hi together,
Trigger Rally has been listed on the Fedora wiki page for not being included because of licensing reasons for quite some time. Since then we did develop the game much further and we removed all non-free material.
So please do consider to include Trigger Rally 0.6.5 into Fedora!
https://sourceforge.net/projects/trigger-rally/
Unfortunately I am not that good with technical things, but please let me know if I can help to get Trigger Rally into Fedora.
I don't know of any free 3D rally game that would make drifting more fun. At the same time its low demand on the systems hardware makes it very attractive to users with weaker systems.
So please don't hesitate to contact me if you are interested in adopting the most recent release of Trigger Rally (it's from yesterday) into Fedora!

Hi Onsemeliot, thanks for reaching out here about Trigger Rally! This would probably be the best list for you to post this announcement to (even though I realize I am quite late to reply to this).
Have you had any luck getting any interest in finding a packager? If not, perhaps circulating some mail on the general devel list could be helpful too. That's a more active mailing list and perhaps someone there might be interested in trying to package Trigger Rally.
Also, what wiki page did you find the reference about the licensing? If the original issue was solved, we can update the wiki page and remove mention of it being blocked in Fedora.
Thanks for reaching out here!

Looks like it's listed on the SIG under "games we will NOT package".

It was this way since the game used some non-free material, but if I understood Onsemeliot's original email, this should no longer be an issue because upstream removed the non-free content.

Thank you for your replies. Yes this was the wiki entry I was referring to. And the issue with the use of non-free images is resolved also. We replaced everything with our own creations or freely licensed images. We even added a comprehensive list with licensing information on all assets used in our data folder to the Docs folder.
I will try my luck in the general development list too.
Cheers, Onsemeliot

Yes, this was what I wanted to stress: We removed all non-free content (and made many improvements).
Who can change the status?

Hey Onsemeliot, not sure if you got an answer here or not. I'm actually unsure of what would have to be done to officially change the status. But I think the best course of action would be to make a ticket for the Fedora Packaging Committee.

They're probably in the best position to advise here. And if they aren't, then surely they will be able to point you in the right direction. Here is the FPC wiki page too, for reference:

If you can find a packager, flagging the package for legal review in the review request bug could help too.

I'm not aware that we have anything like an "official" status in any case. There's just stuff that can be packaged and stuff that can't. The wiki page only reflects the status at the particular time of the last edit.
Anyway, I did a little wiki editing.

I'm not sure what FPC could help with here. It wasn't involved in any determination about whether this game could be packaged. If the objectionable content is truly gone (I haven't checked myself) then anyone is free to package it. If the reviewer has questions about the content which remains, they can block the FE-Legal so that someone who knows about that kind of thing can have a look.

I am willing to resolve any issues still found. (At least if I am capable of doing so.)
Thanks you for your feedbacks, Onsemeliot
Hey,
I am wiling to take up packing this game if no one else has risen to the occasion.

Alright, I still have not managed to package anything and this will be possibly my second package (I am working on my first). So it might take some time for me to complete but it will get done at some point. I will make sure to keep in touch. I played the game a bit so I still have the source code on my computer I am always lurking on this list, so I see all :b if you feel like I am taking too long with this feel free to send me an email bugging me to do it, sometimes I need a nudge to get things done.

I'm the package maintainer of freeorion and endless-sky. If you get stuck with any package-related problems, I'm happy to help.
