i think comment 3 was for another bug maybe?  anyway, if not:

bash-4.2# ls -ld /opt 
drwxr-xr-x. 2 root root 4096 Aug  7  2013 /opt
bash-4.2# ls -ld /opt/hello
ls: cannot access /opt/hello: No such file or directory
