Not sure if F14 leksah-server may need Requires haddock
since the haddock version of haddock in ghc6 is older
than that required for building leksah-server?
Steps to Reproduce:
1. yum install leksah-server
Actual results:
pull in haddock
Expected results:
just to use the haddock in ghc.

Summary: hsc2hs not found error due to update-alternatives not found (missing Requires: chkconfig)
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=753661
Summary: hsc2hs not found error due to update-alternatives not
found (missing Requires: chkconfig)
Product: Fedora EPEL
Version: el6
Platform: Unspecified
OS/Version: Unspecified
Status: NEW
Severity: unspecified
Priority: unspecified
Component: ghc
AssignedTo: petersen(a)redhat.com
ReportedBy: giamteckchoon(a)gmail.com
QAContact: extras-qa(a)fedoraproject.org
CC: petersen(a)redhat.com, fedora-haskell-list(a)redhat.com
Classification: Fedora
Story Points: ---
Type: ---
Description of problem:
When try to build other packages that require ghc in mock, a couple of them
can't be compile due to hsc2hs not found error. ghc-6.12.3-5.el6 and
ghc-6.12.3-6.el6 (I think) in %post and %preun sections in spec file as below:
%post
# Alas, GHC, Hugs, and nhc all come with different set of tools in
# addition to a runFOO:
#
# * GHC: hsc2hs
# * Hugs: hsc2hs, cpphs
# * nhc: cpphs
#
# Therefore it is currently not possible to use --slave below to form
# link groups under a single name 'runhaskell'. Either these tools
# should be disentangled from the Haskell implementations, or all
# implementations should have the same set of tools. *sigh*
update-alternatives --install %{_bindir}/runhaskell runhaskell \
%{_bindir}/runghc 500
update-alternatives --install %{_bindir}/hsc2hs hsc2hs \
%{_bindir}/hsc2hs-ghc 500
%preun
if [ "$1" = 0 ]; then
update-alternatives --remove runhaskell %{_bindir}/runghc
update-alternatives --remove hsc2hs %{_bindir}/hsc2hs-ghc
fi
So it needs update-alternatives to do the linking if I am right in fact the
spec file will need to add Requires: chkconfig or else when installing ghc will
have the errors as below:
Non-fatal POSTIN scriptlet failure in rpm package ghc-6.12.3-6.el6.i686
/var/tmp/rpm-tmp.E4LKqM: line 13: update-alternatives: command not found
/var/tmp/rpm-tmp.E4LKqM: line 15: update-alternatives: command not found
warning: %post(ghc-6.12.3-6.el6.i686) scriptlet failed, exit status 127
Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
ghc-6.12.3-5.el6
ghc-6.12.3-6.el6
In fact past versions/release can have the same problem if the %post and %preun
sections are the same and without chkconfig in Requires list.
How reproducible:
When build in mock environment where chkconfig package isn't install by default
will have this issue since update-alternatives is provided by chkconfig rpm
package.
Like when you try to compile/build any of the packages that need hsc2hs in ghc
package where ghc only has /usr/bin/hsc2hs-ghc and during %post section use
update-alternatives to do the linking of /usr/bin/hsc2hs-ghc to hsc2hs-ghc.
i.e Try to build any of the following without chkconfig rpm package install:
xmonad-0.9.1-6.1.el6
ghc-X11-1.5.0.0-5.el6
hscolour-1.16-1.el6
The list goes on... ...
Thanks.

Giam Teck Choon

Summary: leksah-server shouldn't require ghc-leksah-server

Summary: leksah-server shouldn't require ghc-leksah-server
Product: Fedora
Version: rawhide
Platform: Unspecified
OS/Version: Unspecified
Status: NEW
Severity: unspecified
Priority: unspecified
Component: leksah-server
AssignedTo: lakshminaras2002(a)gmail.com
ReportedBy: petersen(a)redhat.com
QAContact: extras-qa(a)fedoraproject.org
CC: fedora-haskell-list(a)redhat.com,
lakshminaras2002(a)gmail.com
Classification: Fedora
Story Points: ---
Type: ---
Description of problem:
It is a weakness of Cabal currently that binlib package
executables are linked statically against their own libraries.
So there is no need for leksah to explicitly require ghc-leksah-server.
Indeed even it if were dynamically linked to the library
then rpm would generate the requires dependency automatically.
Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
leksah-server-0.10.0.4-3.fc15
Steps to Reproduce:
1. rpm -q --requires leksah-server | grep leksah-server
Actual results:
1. ghc-leksah-server
Expected results:
1. No dependency on ghc-leksah-server
Additional info:
I don't think it is urgent to push updates for this
but would be good to fix this now first in rawhide.

Summary: "xmonad --recompile" reports missing libX11.so library in Fedora 15 x86_64
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=723558
Summary: "xmonad --recompile" reports missing libX11.so library
in Fedora 15 x86_64
Product: Fedora
Version: 15
Platform: x86_64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: medium
Priority: unspecified
Component: xmonad
AssignedTo: mathstuf(a)gmail.com

QAContact: extras-qa(a)fedoraproject.org
CC: petersen(a)redhat.com, mathstuf(a)gmail.com,
fedora-haskell-list(a)redhat.com
Classification: Fedora
Story Points: ---
Description of problem:
xmonad --recompile reports missing libX11.so library when the command is
invoked on an x64 system. This is because libX11.x86_64 is not installed as a
dependency when xmonad.x86_64 is installed through yum. Installing
libX11.x86_64 fixes the problem.
Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
Name : xmonad
Arch : x86_64
Version : 0.9.2
Release : 8.fc15
How reproducible: always (100%)
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install the x86_64 versions of xmonad, ghc-xmonad-contrib,
ghc-xmonad-contrib-devel, and xmonad-gnome
2. Create a minimal xmonad config in ~/.xmonad/xmonad.hs
3. Invoke `xmonad --recompile` in a terminal
Actual results:
`xmonad --recompile` fails with linking errors due to a missing libX11.so
Expected results:
libX11.x86_64 should be pulled as a dependency when xmonad.x86_64 is installed
to prevent the linking problem when `xmonad --recompile` is invoked.

First of all, sorry for so late response. I just fixed these issues
(hopefully), and as I mentioned in IRC the licensing issue should also be
resolved. Citing from a mail from the author:

According to bibutils license file it is licensed (specifically) under GPLv2.

Indeed, this an xmonad bug which still calls "dmenu_path | dmenu" in its
default config instead of "dmenu_run" (which has been around for quite some
time now).

Thanks for updating I think I can review this for you as sponsor
if you can clean up a little more:
We usually put the summary and description in common_summary
and common_description.
Please remember to bump the release number and add a new changelog
entry when you update the package.
You should use _bindir and _datadir instead of explicitly writing
/usr/bin and /usr/share.
You can add (doc) files under the %file sections
but you need to be careful since secondary archs
don't have shared libraries (ie base subpackage).
If you are serious about packaging it would also help
if you looked at some other packages that need reviewing
and posted comments on them - feel free to put links here
to any reviews you have looked over.

Hi Heherson, thanks for the submission.
I think I can review this - basically it looks ok
but can you simplify/cleanup the description to avoid all
the rpmlint warnings?

Hi!
I've recently started learning Haskell and, as a sysadmin, I have some
experience with RPM packaging so I would like to lend a hand to the Haskell
SIG.
What needs the most attention? How could I get started?
Thank you
Hi guys,
I met Lakshmi Narasimhan at FUDCOn Pune and he helped me packaged
ghc-fingertree. It would be great if somebody from the group will review
the package[1] and hopefully sponsor me.
All the best!

Hi,
I have done a test scratch build of ghc-7.2.2-rc1 on F17 rawhide.
You can get the srpm or binary packages from:
http://kojipkgs.fedoraproject.org/scratch/petersen/task_3496432/
(note that F17 is now on a newer major version of gmp
than F16 and earlier, so the binary packages won't install
directly on current releases.)
I am planning to update Fedora 17 Rawhide from 7.0.4 to 7.2.2
when it is released. Then we will probably move on to
7.4 when it is stable enough.
Jens

Hi
Please provide a summary and description relevant for the package instead of
using the default ones provided by the template.
In BuildRequires : ghc-HUnit-devel should be ghc-HUnit-prof , if this package
will be built for f14.
Also, remove the comment under %build section.
Add a new changelog entry in addition to the default one created by the
template. Please provide a summary of the changes you have made (in one or two
sentences). Increment Release from 0 to 1.
Otherwise looks fine.
Thanks.
