[Fedora-i18n-bugs] [Bug 1405433] New: msghack makes gettext depend on python3
by Red Hat Bugzilla
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1405433
Bug ID: 1405433
Summary: msghack makes gettext depend on python3
Product: Fedora
Version: rawhide
Component: gettext
Assignee: praiskup(a)redhat.com
Reporter: psabata(a)redhat.com
QA Contact: extras-qa(a)fedoraproject.org
CC: dueno(a)redhat.com, i18n-bugs(a)lists.fedoraproject.org,

msghack, a Fedora-specific tool not included in the upstream tarball, makes the
gettext package depend on python3, pulling the full python stack into an
otherwise system-python-only minimal compose, such as Base Runtime.
Please, consider one of the following actions:
1. Sub-package msghack.
2. Make msghack use system-python.
3. Since gettext is written in C, rewrite msghack in C as well.
4. Drop msghack entirely.
Thanks!

Description of problem:
Ctrl+Shift+e is binded to IBus emoji typing. This is a common combination used
in applications such as VSCode.
Could we make the shortcut configurable for emoji typing?
Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
How reproducible:
Always.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Enable emoji typing shortcut as described here
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Changes/IBus_Emoji_Typing
2.
3.
Actual results:
Emoji typing is applied.
Expected results:
Application shortcut is respected.
Additional info:
I have the following languages configured in IBus:
* US English
* Kana Kanji
* Anthy

[Fedora-i18n-bugs] [Bug 1411688] New: Backspace and delete don’t work well when reaching the end of the preëdit , making it hard to delete spaces between words when surrounding text is supported
by Red Hat Bugzilla
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1411688
Bug ID: 1411688
Summary: Backspace and delete don’t work well when reaching the
end of the preëdit, making it hard to delete spaces
between words when surrounding text is supported
Product: Fedora
Version: 25
Component: ibus-typing-booster

When using Backspace or Delete while the preëdit is open, currently
these keys do nothing when the end of the preëdit is reached.
I.e., when the cursor is already at the leftmost position in
the preëdit, typing Backspace does nothing, otherwise it deletes the
character left of the cursor. And when the cursor is already at the rightmost
position in the preëdit, typing Delete does nothing, otherwise it deletes
the character to the right of the cursor.
This is especially inconvenient when using ibus-typing-booster in
a program which supports surrounding text, for example when using it in gedit.

[Fedora-i18n-bugs] [Bug 1411676] New: Deleting candidates from the user database doesn’t work if the candidate is typed with a prefix
by Red Hat Bugzilla
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1411676
Bug ID: 1411676
Summary: Deleting candidates from the user database doesn’t
work if the candidate is typed with a prefix
Product: Fedora
Version: 25
Component: ibus-typing-booster
Assignee: mfabian(a)redhat.com
Reporter: mfabian(a)redhat.com

While using ibus-typing-booster, type some word like
“supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” and commit it.
Type the beginning of the word again, e.g. “supercali”, you see the
completion “supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” because it has been
remembered in the user database. While seeing that candidate list,
type Control+F1 (assuming the candidate is at position 1 in the
candidate list) to delete it from the user database. The candidate
correctly vanishes.
Type “supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” again and commit it.
Now type “_supercali”, you see the candidate
“_supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” displayed. This is because
ibus-typing-booster strips some prefixes characters like _() before
attempting completion. Without that,
“(supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” would be remembered as a
completely different word in the user database, it seems better to
consider something like the leading “(” not as part of the word/token
to remember.
Now type Control+F1 (assuming the candidate
“_supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” is at position 1 in the
candidate list).
The candidate does *not* vanish now and the word
“supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” is not deleted from the user
database.
This is inconvenient and counterintuitive.

[Fedora-i18n-bugs] [Bug 1414642] New: Weird stuff happens when trying to reopen a preëdit of ibus-typing-booster with Left , Right, Backspace, or Delete and any modifier key like Shift, Control, Alt, Meta pressed at the same time.
by Red Hat Bugzilla

Bug ID: 1414642
Summary: Weird stuff happens when trying to reopen a preëdit of
ibus-typing-booster with Left, Right, Backspace, or
Delete and any modifier key like Shift, Control, Alt,
Meta pressed at the same time.
Product: Fedora
Version: 25
Component: ibus-typing-booster
Assignee: mfabian(a)redhat.com
Reporter: mfabian(a)redhat.com
QA Contact: extras-qa(a)fedoraproject.org
CC: anish.developer(a)gmail.com,
i18n-bugs(a)lists.fedoraproject.org, mfabian(a)redhat.com,
smaitra(a)redhat.com
The problem happens only when the program typed into supports surrounding text.
For example, when typing into gedit (or any other gnome program), this problem
occurs.
In gedit (and most other programs), the Left, Right, Backspace, and Delete
keys have special functions when used together with modifier keys.
For example, Control+Left moves the cursor one word to left.
Control+Backspace removes a whole word to the left of the cursor.
Shift+Left marks a region in gedit (gets a blue background) and
that region can then be removed with Delete or Backspace.
Alt+Backspace exchanges the two words left of the cursor. Etc. ...
So in all these cases, reopening the preëdit does not work the
same way as when Left, Right, Backspace, or Delete are used to without
the modifiers.
As the behaviour of these key combinations is not
exactly the same in all programs, it is not possible to reopen the
preëdit correctly in all programs. Therefore, better don’t try
to reopen the preëdit at all when Left, Right, Backspace, or Delete
are used with any modifier (except CapsLock which does cause no such
problems).
