[Fedora-i18n-bugs] [Bug 1415391] New: scim-pinyin does not add smart pinyin as an input option
by Red Hat Bugzilla
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1415391
Bug ID: 1415391
Summary: scim-pinyin does not add smart pinyin as an input
option
Product: Fedora
Version: 25
Component: scim-pinyin
Severity: high
Assignee: pwu(a)redhat.com
Reporter: oldregdata(a)km.ru
QA Contact: extras-qa(a)fedoraproject.org
CC: i18n-bugs(a)lists.fedoraproject.org, pwu(a)redhat.com,
shawn.p.huang(a)gmail.com
Description of problem:
smart pinyin doesn't get listed for selection in IMEngine Global Setup menu
Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
scim-pinyin 0.5.92-8.fc24
How reproducible:
always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.fresh net install of fedora 25 with only window managers, up to date
2.install scim, scim-tables, scim-tables-russian, scim-pinyin
3.change the input method to scim by im-chooser pulled with scim by default
4.log out, log back in (or even reboot)
Actual results:
only Russian and Other are listed as options in IMEngine Global Setup menu.
Smart pinyin is listed as a separate menu below, but it's just for configuring,
not for adding it to as an input methods.
Default Control+space triger does change between russian and default english
keyboard.
installing scim-bridge, scim-bridge-gtk, scim-gtk on top of it doesn't change
things
Expected results:
Smart pinyin should be listed as a method for Chinese input in IMEngine Global
Setup menu.

Patch to add %license
Description of problem:
This package contains one or more files containing the package license in the
source tarball, but it is not installed on the system with the %license macro.
This is important, because the license files will not be installed if the RPM
is installed with docs disabled (such as when generating a container base
image), which may be a compliance violation.
A provenpackager will apply the attached patch in two weeks if we receive no
negative response from the maintainer.

Mozc is one of the most used Japanese IME. Why does not exist a package to use
Mozc with Fcitx?

Bad and hard to fix I'm afraid :-(
QEMU has multiple different frontends it builds support for, SDL, GTK, VNC and
SPICE. While users who run VMs via libvirt will always use VNC or SPICE, users
who run VMs without libvirt will typically use the GTK or SDL frontend. While
we encourage people to use libvirt, we can't simply ignore people who don't use
libvirt as they have valid reasons for their choices.
So we have to enable GTK or SDL or both in Fedora. We could probably make a
case for dropping SDL support in QEMU in Fedora, as GTK frontend is better
these days, but that's going to have negligible impact on the deps pulled in.
There is a desire in QEMU upstream to modularize the codebase so that things
can be split off into separately dlopen()able modules, with the intention that
it will allow distros to ship all features without having to pull in the whole
world at once. This is non-trivial work, especially for UI frontends to QEMU,
so I'm not expecting it to be done any time soon.
