Bug ID: 1987434
Summary: eb: FTBFS in Fedora rawhide/f35
Product: Fedora
Version: rawhide
Status: NEW
Component: eb
Assignee: petersen(a)redhat.com
Reporter: releng(a)fedoraproject.org
QA Contact: extras-qa(a)fedoraproject.org

Classification: Fedora
eb failed to build from source in Fedora rawhide/f35
https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=72340359
For details on the mass rebuild see:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Fedora_35_Mass_Rebuild
Please fix eb at your earliest convenience and set the bug's status to
ASSIGNED when you start fixing it. If the bug remains in NEW state for 8 weeks,
eb will be orphaned. Before branching of Fedora 36,
eb will be retired, if it still fails to build.

Summary: Characters get deleted as you type
Product: Fedora
Version: 29
Status: NEW
Component: ibus-m17n
Severity: high
Assignee: pnemade(a)redhat.com
Reporter: lohang(a)gmail.com
QA Contact: extras-qa(a)fedoraproject.org
CC: i18n-bugs(a)lists.fedoraproject.org, pnemade(a)redhat.com,

Target Milestone: ---
Classification: Fedora
Description of problem:
When you type Sinhala using Wijesekera keyboard layout through ibus the first
character gets deleted as soon as you start typing the second character. This
is similar to the bug previously reported for Fedora 28
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1617978
How reproducible:
(1) Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Libre Office Writer (6.1.2.1)
2. Switch to Sinhala; Sinhalese (wijesekera (m17n))
3. Type keys vksIal kjSka
4. Hit space to separate the second word from the first word. And hit space at
the end of the first word.
Actual results: ක වීන්
Expected results: ඩනිෂ්ක නවීන්
Additional info:
(2) When you try this with emacs the results are a little different. I am
including it here assuming this is related to the same issue:
This is how to reproduce with emacs:
1. Open emacs 26.1 (build 1, x86_64-redhat-linux-gnu, GTK+ Version 3.23.2)
of 2018-08-13
2. Switch to Sinhala; Sinhalese (wijesekera (m17n))
3. Type keys vksIal kjSka
4. Hit space to separate the second word from the first word. And hit space at
the end of the first word.
Actual results: ඩනිෂ් කනවී න්
Expected results: ඩනිෂ්ක නවීන්
This adds a space before the last character of the first word, not where you
want the space to be.

When typing very close to the bottom of the screen, the candidate list even

I cannot reproduce your problem with the same gnome-shell and ibus versions in
GNOME Xorg in Fedora 35.
Did you change a scaling or something from your screenshot?
--- Additional comment from Mike FABIAN on 2021-08-24 13:46:48 UTC ---
No, I didn’t scale anything. The screenshots and the videos show the whole
screen 1024x768 pixels.
--- Additional comment from Mike FABIAN on 2021-08-24 14:43:52 UTC ---
Still happens today on Fedora-Workstation-Live-x86_64-35-20210814.n.0.iso after
“dnf update” and reboot.
--- Additional comment from Mike FABIAN on 2021-08-27 15:34:39 UTC ---
Now I have
Fedora-Workstation-Live-x86_64-35-20210825.n.0.iso
ibus-1.5.25-1.fc35.x86_64
gnome-shell-41~beta-1.fc35.x86_64
and the problem is still 100% reproducible.
--- Additional comment from Mike FABIAN on 2021-08-27 17:53:20 UTC ---
And now it doesn’t even work correctly on Wayland anymore!
On Xorg, the candidate list is far below the cursor position.
On Wayland, the candidte list is far to the right of the cursor position, *if*
the cursor position is not at the very left of the screen.
See video.

The problem is still unchanged after an installation of
Fedora-Workstation-Live-x86_64-35-20210829.n.0.iso
and then using “sudo dnf update” to install all current updates.

--- Additional comment from fujiwara on 2021-09-01 04:03:13 UTC ---
Thank you for the report.
Seems Fedora 35 GDB does not work for me and when `gdb --pid $PID` is called
for gedit, gedit unload im-ibus.so with GDB and I could not reproduce this
issue.
Now I fixed a regression of IBus GTK3 module.
https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2021-66ac3ff006
But seems the X coordinate is still not good in GNOME 41 Xorg. I will compare
F34 and F35 GNOME.
--- Additional comment from fujiwara on 2021-09-03 09:11:42 UTC ---
I confirmed gnome-shell upstream already has the fix.

Summary: German neo2 layout sticks when switching to
typing-booster, no emoji found
Product: Fedora
Version: 35

OS: Linux
Status: NEW
Component: ibus-typing-booster
Assignee: mfabian(a)redhat.com
Reporter: andy(a)madspunky.net
QA Contact: extras-qa(a)fedoraproject.org
CC: anish.developer(a)gmail.com,

Target Milestone: ---
Classification: Fedora
Description of problem:
For the F35 test days I executed [QA:Testcase
ibus-typing-booster](https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/QA:Testcase_ibus-typing…
and [QA:Testcase
ibus-m17n](https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/QA:Testcase_ibus-m17n)
In both cases the keyboard layout sticks when I choose de_DE (neo2). It does
not stick when I choose en_EN (intl) or fr_FR (azerty).
In typing-booster the sticking neo2 layout causes emoji not being suggested
when finishing a word with an underscore.
Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
ibus-typing-booster-2.14.10-1.fc35.src.rpm
How reproducible:
Always during the test session.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Add input source German (Germany), German (Neo 2)
2. Add input source Others, Typing Booster)
3. Add input source sayura by searching for it
4. Switch to input source Neo 2 in Gnome Panel
5. Switch to input source Typing Booster in Gnome Panel (and make sure en_EN)
is among the languages)
6. Open gedit
7. Try to type qwerty
8. Type cat_ (rdl CAPSLOCK+w)
9. Switch to input source sayura in Gnome Panel
10. In gedit, type i n W d R i y
Actual results:
7. You will type xvlcwk since neo stuck
8. *No emoji will appear in the suggestions*
10. ගබවාඡගක instead of ඉන්ද්රිය will appear since neo stuck
Expected results:
6. I'm not sure if this is expected behaviour
7. Among the suggestions there should be a cat emoji

Please keep in mind that with any upstream change, there may also be packaging
changes that need to be made. Specifically, please remember that it is your
responsibility to review the new version to ensure that the licensing is still
correct and that no non-free or legally problematic items have been added
upstream.

libpinyin is a build and runtime requirement of maliit-keyboard.
maliit-keyboard is a new runtime requirement of plasma-workspace, a critical
piece of the KDE Plasma Desktop.
Please branch and build libpinyin in epel8-next and epel8. I asking for
epel8-next because that is where the new KDE Plasma Desktop currently is.
If you do not wish to maintain libpinyin in epel8, or do not think you will be
able to do this in a timely manner, I would be happy to be a co-maintainer of
the package.
