Events in Q1
by sankarshan
Hi,
>From <https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FedoraEvents#Asia.2C_India.2C_Australia_Q1>
it looks like we have a single event in Q1 currently.
So, if you are organizing or, helping to organize an event and, are
looking into the feasibility of whether some funds can be provided for
it via the Community Architecture budget, here's a couple of things
that would be useful:
[0] It needs to be listed on
<https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FedoraEvents> well ahead of time
[1] Give a quick read/re-read to
<https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FedoraEvents/Organization>
[2] And, <https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FedoraEvents/ReportingGuidelines>
[3] To know about the process for re-imbursements, please follow
<https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Reimbursements>
And, the important aspects -
[0] When you put up an entry on the Events page, please plan in
details for activities, talks, workshops and/or presentations around
The Fedora Project (*)
[1] Check up with the proposed/suggested speakers before putting their
names on your plan
[2] Not all speakers may be available to travel, so, if possible, try
to hook up VoIP or IRC talks
[3] The re-imbursements happen after the event is over and, there is
at least one report on the fedora-india list (along with
fedora-ambassadors list) and on Planet Fedora as a blog
[4] Make sure to keep your local Ambassador informed about the event
should you need any help
~sankarshan
(*) We love to talk about FOSS in general, but eventually we will end
up talking about Fedora and, this notion should be agreeable to the
organizers

Hi,
I am with Fedora and have been quite active in popularising
Fedora and FOSS.
For DF-Day(25th March), I am planning to get a custom spin made for
the different teams including the Kolkata team.
I think it will help if some media is provided. Of course I do need
other Fedora promotional material (Stickers, Posters) for the event.
I am also planning on creating a printable getting started guide for
newbies for this type of events.
Best
A. Mani

Summer of Code 2009
by Rahul Sundaram
Hi
Add your ideas esp if you are willing to mentor at
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Summer_coding_ideas_for_2009
Last year, we had a good number of Indian students. It would be great to
have a similar or better participation this time around as well. Note
that we will likely have less number of slots since Google seems to have
scaled down funding so competition is going to be a lot more tougher.

I am with Fedora.
My recent activities are:
1) Manned the Fedora booth at Science City in december last year.
2) Spreading Fedora at my college LUG.
3) Distributing Fedora DVDs to people.
4) Trying to make my college authorities realise the importance and impact
of FOSS.

Oh
So some pruning is taking place after all. Well even the rose plant
needs to be pruned before winter in order to ensure that it continues
to flourish.

Please be sure to inform the list *well* in advance, I often find
meetings are announced just half a day before.
If it's no problem, then please have it on some saturday. I also wish
to have it as early as possible(if someone is not busy of course).
