Local Contacts wiki page cleanup : please update your info
by Ankur Sinha
Hello,
Please update your info (and your friends' if they're still local
contacts) to the latest Fedora version on the local contacts page[1].
I'll go through the list in a weeks time and remove entries that still
cite previous Fedora versions. (A week should be sufficient time for all
members)
Since we're looking to direct some traffic to local contacts to better
the fedora distribution scheme, it's important that the page stay up to
date. If users come across this page and ping people who are no longer
interested in supplying Fedora media, and therefore receive *no reply*,
we lose out.
I'll ping the list with reminders when new Fedora releases are made.
However, just generally, please do try to keep your wiki pages up to
date. This covers user pages, howtos, contribution pages et all. If you
notice a page that needs love, please ping the list.

[Request] IRC trainers, October 2, 2010
by Shakthi Kannan
Hi,
I had scheduled to conduct a one-day Free Software workshop on the
following topics at Mepco Schlenk Engineering College, Sivakasi, Tamil
Nadu, India [1] on Saturday, October 2, 2010, but, had to cancel the
trip in the last moment:
* di-git-ally-managing-love-letters: Session on git [2]
* i-want-2-do-project. tell-me-wat-2-do-fedora [3]
* Packaging RPM (Fedora) [4]
Today, I coordinated with their lab system administrator to try to
install and get IRC working [5] from the computers in the seminar hall
and the labs through their proxy, so we could possibly do an online
IRC training session in #fedora-india channel. It has been done now!
I would appreciate if there are more people who can also join in as
trainers for the online sessions between 0930 and 1700 IST on
Saturday, October 2, 2010, in case, I face Internet connectivity
problems or power failures in Hyderabad. If you are interested, please
let me know. My IRC nick is "mbuf" on irc.freenode.net. Everyone is
welcome to participate in the IRC sessions as well.
I would like to request to use #fedora-india channel because in future
if they have any doubts, they know where to ask!
Thanks,
SK

by Roger Sinel
Hello,
I'm a Fedora Ambassador form Stockholm Sweden. I am about to start a
business relationship with an Operations Team to India, using FOSS. And
I'am intressted in finding out more regarding the FOSS community in
India and especially the Hyderabad area.
Also Fedora and RedHat community activities are also very intressting
for me to know more about.
I will be leaving for Bangalore tomorrow for two days and will also be
in Hyderabad after that for a few days. Any tips regarding places I
could visit in Hyderabad regarding FOSS and Fedora or RedHat on the 14th
Oct would be appreciated.
I'm looking forward to learning more about the Fedora and FOSS community
in India. Any URLS or mailing list tips are appreciated.
Best Regards
