Hello from Chandigarh
by Inderjeet S Sodhi
Hello Everyone,
I am Inderjeet, 36, from Chandigarh, India. I'm a freelance IT consultant and programmer serving clients in North India. Great to see India separately mentioned among the area-wise list of Fedora Act.
Hope to meet some likeminded people, contribute towards Fedora in whatever manner I can and be of some use to the cause.
BTW, can anyone lead me to Fedora freemedia request ticket list? I know I'm cross-posting, but I believe this is India-central man! I already am subscribed to freemedia list but from where to see the requests?
Best wishes

PCI driver not writing to config space
by Giriprasad Deviprasad
Hi All,
I have a pci driver like:
define VENDOR_ID 0x1415
#define DEVICE_ID1 0xc140
#include<linux/module.h>
#include<linux/version.h>
#include<linux/kernel.h>
#include<linux/pci.h>
#include<linux/ioport.h>
#include<asm/unistd.h>
#include<linux/slab.h>
#include<linux/fs.h>
#include<asm/uaccess.h>
#include<asm/io.h>
#include<linux/kdev_t.h>
#include<asm/fcntl.h>
#include<linux/sched.h>
#include<linux/wait.h>
#include<linux/errno.h>
#include<asm/irq.h>
#include<asm/ioctl.h>
#include<linux/string.h>
#include<linux/interrupt.h>
init_module (void)
{
short int curr_device;
dev = pci_find_device (VENDOR_ID, DEVICE_ID1, NULL);
j = pci_enable_device (dev);
curr_device = 0;
printk("Init : Reading and writing Config space.........\n");
pci_read_config_word (dev, 0x02, (u16 *)&curr_device);
printk("Init : Current Device id = %x\n", (curr_device & 0x00FFFF));
curr_device = 0xc145;
pci_write_config_word (dev, 0x02, curr_device);
pci_read_config_word (dev, 0x02, (u16 *)&curr_device);
printk("Init : After writing to Config space, Current Device id = %x\n", (curr_device & 0x00FFFF));
return 0;
}
void
cleanup_module (void)
{
printk ("Closing pci \n");
}
When I insmod this driver after build, it shows:
Jul 20 15:11:03 localhost kernel: Init : Reading and writing Config space.........
Jul 20 15:11:03 localhost kernel: Init : Current Device id = c140
Jul 20 15:11:03 localhost kernel: Init : After writing to Config space, Current Device id = c140
Any clues as to why is not writing 0xc145 to the pci config space?
curr_device = 0xc145;
pci_write_config_word (dev, 0x02, curr_device);
Thanks & Regards,

Updates on Posters
by Suchakra
We plan to roll out 2-3 variants of the poster with same content but
different theme elements (and maybe colours?). The generic version to
be used is at [1]
If you like it, I can send this one for some initial prints in Pune.
Watch the same place [2] and the ticket [3] from now on for updates
on designs of posters and banners.
Important points for budget:
Posters generally cost very less but vinyl posters cost a lot. An A3
sized colour poster on plain paper is Rs 15-20 per piece and Rs 20-25
on gloss. A 7x4 foot high quality vinyl banner was around Rs 450 the
last time I checked (maybe 2 months). The number of posters required
in COEP is around 25 and in surrounding colleges will be 35 which
makes it 60 posters for Pune. I propose that we print 4 vinyl banners
too. Keep in mind that this is all for local publicity *before event*.
Banners for directions, and other markings *during event* is separate
and will be done later.
I plan to wrap up the posters business by month end and then work on
banners and other graphics.
