There has been a continuous discussion within the FAmSCo on this (as the minutes would show). So, it wasn't a decision that was 'taken on the fly'.
It is good to see an increased interest in becoming an Ambassador, what would be helpful at this point is existing Ambassadors understanding that the role of an evangelist requires one to be hands-on and work continuously on building the capability to field both technical and non-technical questions. The former is possible with increased presence within various areas of the project.
