Hello,
F23 is out and it's time to print new media(CD/DVD) for distribution across APAC regions. Is anyone already doing it? If not, I'm coordinating this task, I'd like to know the total requirement for such media. A count from last couple of years will be helpful.
Thank you.

Nobody has volunteered to do this yet. I am unable to take this up this time and I have documented the process[1] for someone else to pick up. We printed 2000 workstation DVDs for F22 and we ran out a bit early, mainly due to FUDCon. I would think the same number is sufficient. You'll also have to coordinate shipping to Singapore and Bangalore from Pune, assuming Pune is where the DVDs are delivered. Also ask Beijing ambassadors if they need some. If they do, you may need to bump the number a bit to, say, 2500 or 3000.

Yes, I'm following up with them too. I spoke to Priyanka at Gaiaka earlier today, they require total number for the quote. Thank you so much for the information and looping in Rupali. I'll follow-up further.

Thanks PJP, for taking this up.
The printed DVDs for F21 and F22 were very useful for the Fedora Freemedia program that I volunteer for. I request that you factor in around 650 DVDs for this purpose, and have them shipped to me at Red Hat Bangalore.
Thanks.

Are we not planning to have F23 burnt Fedora Branded DVD + Fedora branded card pouch like last time ?

Yes, the DVDs will be branded with F23 with an inner pouch. I'm not very keen on card pouches. Even last time the DVD stack I received was same.

Maybe what you are referring to as 'inner pouch' is the same as what I was referring to as 'card pouch'. I too am okay with how it was done last time. :)
If the 'inner pouch' has brand printing on it as last time, could we just have 'Fedora 23' on it, avoid putting 'workstation' on it, and print a few hundred more of them than the number of DVDs ? I could use those to send out the DVDs that I burn for the other flavors and spins of Fedora 23. If it is hard to club this request with the current order for administrative reasons, maybe we could have a parallel order with the same vendor for just the extra pouches, and I could fund that part of the order.

I doubt; See their quote in the ticket below -> https://fedorahosted.org/fedora-apac/ticket/216
They have different prices for inner pouch and card cover pouch.

That should be doable. We could say F23 Workstation on the DVD. And have generic F23 on the cover.

That is okay. I am fine with whatever permutation everyone agrees upon.
Moreover, there is probably no point in spending extra money for just the card cover pouch, and anyway, it does not matter much to me as I send the DVDs in a CD-Mailer envelope. :)

Let me know (off-list) the rates for an extra 300 generic F23 covers, and we could put in both orders together with the vendor.

I think inner pouch is the plastic that houses the DVD.
The card pouch is the paper/cardboard one that has all the printed stuff on it.
You're most likely talking about card pouches. PJP, better confirm before ordering.

If this true, then 'card pouch' is what we had for F21 and F22.

As said before, I'm not keen on the card pouches for all. Maybe we could order some 300-400 of them separately.

The inner pouch is a clear plastic cover and the card pouch is the cardboard cover with print on it.

Making card pouches separately is expensive, cumbersome and time consuming. So either make them or don't. I am inclined towards making them because they are not very expensive and are nicer to distribute the DVDs in and transport.

If the inner pouch is a clear plastic cover with no Fedora branding on it, there is no point for me to purchase the extra pouches from the same vendor. I might as well procure them locally at Bangalore.
As the DVDs would probably be packed in spools, the clear plastic inner pouch with no Fedora branding would just add to the weight and cost of shipping with no added value, in my opinion.

+1
Now that the meaning of 'card pouches' is clearer to me, I vote for making the card pouches along with the DVDs.
And if possible, have the just the Fedora 23 or just the generic Fedora branding on the card pouches, for reasons of multi-use that I had mentioned earlier in the thread.

I'm looking for any such generic F23 artwork for the covers, but currently there available one is
-> https://fedorahosted.org/design-team/ticket/413
-> https://duffy.fedorapeople.org/temp/f23-media/Sleeves/Fedora-23-livemedia-wo...
We'll have to raise a new request for generic designs. We'll defer the DVD + pouch production for now, till we have these new designs.
Hope that's okay. --- -P J P http://feedmug.com

If creating a generic design is going to take a long time, we could have that for the next release. We could now go ahead with what we have rather than delay the DVD + pouch production for F23.

What value do generic sleeves add? I don't see the point at all. Who's going to sit and insert 2000 DVDs into sleeves? It is much much more convenient to just give the order to the vendor and have them give us a fully finished product, i.e. DVDs inserted into their sleeves. Cost should not be that big a concern since it will always be significantly cheaper than what you would get anywhere else.

All these locations receive the DVD and thus roughly 2000 individuals (not all new/unique) receive F23 media. What happens next?

How about we discuss the point raised by Sankarshan at a Fedora meeting we could call up at Pune or Bangalore, with provision for folks from other places to join in remotely ?
