Hi,
I am finding this strange problem, that on booting it dont stop for options and straight away login without asking any credentials and I guess it logs in as user mode. However, I wanted to install few updates, etc and hence needed the root password. Unfortunately I forgot the root password that I would had set at time of installation.
I did an initial search on net on how to reset the root password, however I am not able to halt the boot grub and it dont allow me at all, I mean I dont get any option to edit or append the boot to go in run level 1.
Kindly could any one let me know any clues that what is wrong in my approach or my installation.
Thanks a lot in advance!

Try hitting the arrow keys as soon as the machine completes POST.

Hello All,
I have Fedora 2.6.23.1-42.fc8 GNU GRUB version 0.97 At boot time when I press arrow keys I get the screen wherein it prompts 'p' to enter a password to unlock the next set of features. Unfortunately I lost that password as well as the root password. How do I bypass this, is there any way. Please let me know, many thanks in advance.
Thanks & Regards, sanjeev

Boot your computer from fedora dvd, at the starting screen press ESC you will get boot :
type
boot: linux rescue
Then go further as guided by screen. once you get prompt change the root password with
password root
then shutdown your pc and remove fedora dvd.
Your root password is reset.
Thanks and Regards.

As a general note, if it is not a India specific thing like say organizing a conference domestically , it might be better to cast your net wider and post it in fedora-list or http://ask.fedoraproject.org. You will likely get answers faster.
