Here's an attempt to collate the dominant thoughts on this thread so far
and, come up with a list of stuff that we could attempt to do.
This isn't a complete list and the items are indicative.
For a significant number of the items, we need to prep up the audience
well before foss.in with sessions on IRC and we need to come up with a
plan for that too.
Underlying theme: increase the quality and quantity of contributions to
the Fedora project by pitching FUDCon(a)foss.in as a barcamp style
hackfest rather than talkathons.
Intended audience: Existing contributors to the Fedora Project,
potential contributors to the Fedora Project, users of Fedora and any
other person who walks into FUDCon(a)foss.in
ThingsToHappen: A list of stuff we can do if we put our minds to it. The
list should be a clear and concise answer to the question "I am at
FUDCon now what ?" Below is a summary of what has been discussed. These
are just topics, there are no names attached yet. Additionally, we
haven't talked about which developers would like to attend from outside
of India.

sessions on what Ambassadors can expect, and what is expected out of them

LiveMedia installed. Can take this further to compose custom spins too,

+ Packaging: this is mandatory. Hands-on sessions around packaging
applications from the 'wish list' and guiding potential packagers about
what to do. Can (and should) be extended to packaging Java applications
for Fedora. Need to figure how to involve ISVs into the game as well.

+ Debugging using Systemtap: with Systemtap being a GSoC entry this
year, we need to plan a session to push more scripts into the War
Stories. Very hands-on and immediate pushes into upstream wiki.
+ Desktop Test Cases: Testopia provides a good base to start building up
a repository of desktop test cases. Coupled with 'special Spins' this
can help in the item below. Hands-on and continuous session.
+ Fedora Desktop QA: Cooking up test cases and using ones from above
towards coming up addition to the QA process and team.
+ The KDE Desktop and Fedora: Testing and other related things. <PARTIAL

ambassadors, free-media and local contacts..thats all my current knowledge can permit..
basically why i asked you all how i could contribute.. how do you begin learning
development etc?? I started with C as advised on fedoraforum.org.. what else do i need to

You can also read up a bit of Python, because alongwith C and C++ its
widely used in the free software world these days.
Once you are through with the languages, try to get a basic
understanding of how things are arranged in a Unix system, especially
GNU/Linux. eg., filesystem layout, the basic workings of gcc/make/gdb,
static and dynamic libraries, etc.. Personally I found the "Beginning
Linux Programming" from Wiley/Wrox a very nice book to do this.

hardly have any knowledge on the development etc side.. Would love to learn,but

What all this does mean is that this would be a first time that a FUDCon
would be held at foss.in. Thus, it allows a significant opportunity to
figure out how a FUDCon fits into the foss.in ethos of 'generating
contributions'.
Add to that, we need to figure out the bits about the following:
+ what activities should we be doing prior to FUDCon(a)foss.in
+ what is the hall size we think would be a good to have
+ do we need one hall and a pair of stalls
+ what other infrastructure bits do we require (scratch the wifi since
foss.in does generally flood the venue with bits_in_ether)
+ which developers are willing to come down from outside US
+ when do we start talking with the group willing to come down
+ what about the Fedora GSoC-ers meet
+ Sign-age and related artwork for FUDCon

There are two aspects to this. I'd like to have an agenda which makes it
explicitly clear as to what is the intent of having a FUDCon and what is
going to happen. And, that translates into working on honing a perfect
agenda.
That said, your statement below is of importance. We cannot simply turn
a blind eye to a large segment of users or even potential users and we
need to work on the bootstrapping.
There isn't much that takes to make the user -> contributor jump. I
believe we owe it to our users to make the steps for the jump clear.
Whether they choose to take it, is their choice.

style, followed by pitches and notes on the board.
* We put up a event board in the front of the main conference room (and
other rooms) explaining the agenda
