I am surprised that the Monthly Fedora meet-up at Bangalore is now quite regularly being held at a Starbucks Coffee outlet. Fedora activities at college campuses I can understand, and should be encouraged, but why Starbucks ?!
We used to have the Monthly Fedora meet-up much earlier being held at the Red Hat Bangalore office, with free coffee/tea, free snacks, and free WiFi always available. I think we could have the meet-up at the Red Hat Bangalore office at least once in two months.
Red Hat being the sponsor of Fedora, it would be good to utilize the facilities of Red Hat for Fedora activities, especially when there is no good reason to have it done elsewhere.

This event in Fedocal was already disabled for quite some time. It seems like because of some, reasons, it started sending notifications since last month. I have now deleted the event from the calendar.
That said, we need to chalk out plans to reboot this meetup.
Thanks, rtnpro

Oh! Then the situation is worse than the issue that I had raised about the location!
I was under the impression that regular meetings, even if at Starbucks Coffee, was happening.
We urgently need to get the monthly Fedora meetings running.
Need for some young passionate folks to invigorate the scene ? Sumantro, maybe you can help ?

The meetups should not be centralized to a single location like Red Hat as there are people coming from various parts of the city. It's good to move the meetup around the city.
As the crowd was low and the mainly concentrated in Koramangala and Indiranagar, we chose meetup location in either of these two places and not only Starbucks. I remember doing it in Hasgeek and HackerEarth office couple of times. One of reason of choosing Starbucks was to keep the meetups informal.

Anecdote of one (at least from someone who has attended a few such events at this cafe chain) is that Starbucks is generally receptive to the idea of a small group meeting regularly. The calendar invite is reminiscent of how various clubs have a regular schedule including date and location.

Actually, I believe there is a very strong reason to have it at other places. To be able to organize meetups at locations which involve the various themes/workloads where Fedora adoption and awareness can be raised is a good thing to do. Organizing every single meet at a Red Hat office would encourage a system of monoculture. It may or, may not be a good thing as we are trying to do outreach to new communities (via SIGs and such) as well as new participants.

Sound and pragmatic moves.
