Currently I am proposing a topic for Hackfest on "Contributing to open
source", what should be pre-requisite like:
1. Duration: in hours
2. No of Candidates: should expected
etc.
I got fair idea from FUDCON site:

conduct a one.
I need your support to make it done,

It will also be good if you mention about popular open source contribution
programs like GSoC and OPW.

GSoC, OPW and similar programs do expect a reasonable familiarity with
the project as well as appreciation of how large projects work (eg.

If you're interested in contributing to a particular open source
project, there's no need to wait forGoogle Summer of Code to start;

submit a patch. If you see something that you think would make a
particularly good project for Google Summer of Code, why not suggest
it to the organization?

Agreed and well said.
I simply meant that if a hackfest is conducted regarding how to begin
contributing to open source, we can add or give an overview about GSOC/OPW
as popular programs for working full time on big open source projects.
GSoC/OPW will not be a part of central/main focus of hackfest. *The main
idea and theme of hackfest would still remain Contribution to Open Source
for extreme beginners and how to get started[1] with it easily.*

introduction to Open Source, then it is less of a "hack" fest and more
of a "here's how you can start, let's pick these easy topics to learn
all the basic skills". I have a reasonable aversion to terming every
event as a "hack" fest but that is probably because I am old.
And if that is indeed the objective, then the organizer needs to have
a (i) good grasp of easy topics to target and solve (ii) existing
relationships with various projects within Fedora to make necessary
introductions and sponsor new candidates into such activities (iii)
have a method in place to follow up beyond this event. Coaching new
participants into sustaining contributors is a long ball game. The
first event is just the jump-off point.

It would appear more of a general talk/session rather than a hackfest. As
Mayur Patil had initially given a thought about it, he can prefer to submit
a talk/session on it and not a hackfest session. I am a contributor to
JBoss Security (Picketlink, Keycloak) since Jan 2014. If the slot for talk
is allocated or looks feasible, I would be happy to join him. In addition,
I have also submitted a session for my own talk.

Sorry for late reply and insufficient info about my session.
1. Meaning for contributing to open source is:
Actually, I want to teach Newbies about the *Git and Github with
hands on.*
For those who are quite familiar with opensource and want to get
started as coding contributor but don't know How.
So as all folks are saying, the candidate should have some
familiarity with opensource.
If I am conducting such session, then should I call it as "Hackfest"
(?)
2. And actually I would like to work with Giriraj in his session if time
permits so add a bit of guidance
for how to get started with opensource.

I have conducted similar sessions like contributing to open source, GIT and
other VCS (SVN, Mercurial etc.) hands on. I haven been an active
contributor to Redhat JBoss Security (GSoCer 2014) and currently working
upon JBoss KeyCloak (for GSoC 2015).
My own submitted session[1] is different and is not related to Getting
Started with Open Source . *My idea was if organizers feel that your
session/hands on is feasible or in case you are allocated a slot, we can
get it conducted together or I can join you in the session/hands on.* :) I
am myself not a part of organizing committee.
Also, your session will do make sense in my personal opinion if there will
be huge participation from students.
