The pages are regenerated at the top of each hour on each of the two
separate servers. There can be a few seconds during the rsync update
(it uses rsync --delay-updates even for the local file copy) while the
new pages are copied into place.
But app3 /srv/tg/mirrormanager/mirrorlists isn't happy which is why
it's throwing the 404. The yum mirrorlists are still running fine,
which makes me think it's just a failure of the one copy...
My Fedora ssh key is in a machine that's offline due to my move, so I
can't get onto app3 right now to fix it myself. If someone can:
sudo su -
cd /srv/tg/mirrormanager
rm -rf mirrorlists
rm -f /tmp/mirrormanager-update-each-server.lock
sudo -u apache sh -c ./update-each-server
That will force a regeneration of the mirrorlists. it will take about
5 minutes to run.
App4 could use that too, once app3 finishes...
Thanks,
Matt

Web Server Bug
by David Douthitt
I'm just getting started in this, but....
I submitted my GPG key, got an account, signed the CLA, etc. Then I
went to change my user details (for group membership) and put
"Infrastructure" into the box on the bottom (above the dropbox that
defaults to "user") and the python code blew up.
I saved a copy of the web page complete (I used the Camino web browser
to save it) as well as taking a JPEG picture of the web browser window
with the error completely displayed within.
The URL was https://admin.fedoraproject.org/accounts/userbox.cgi (error
at line #307).
I would have attached these files here, but being this is a mailing
list.... where should I send these files?
One other thing - isn't the error itself a security error? I mean, it
gives me Python code, line numbers, procedure names, Python version and
location, and more. Consider:
The error was a type error, that is: *TypeError*: iteration over
non-sequence. The error was in get_allowed_group_actions in
/srv/web/accounts/website.py on line #435: my_group_info.update(ginfo)

From addresses in Live Mail.
by jose manimala
the new version of hotmail(live mail) seems to support from addresses.
shouldn't it be checked for compatibility with fedora emailaliases?

'yum update' yields an error on Fedora Core 6
by Julian Yap
mirros.fedoraproject.org is really a SPOF for yum and therefore Fedora
as an OS. This is the 2nd time I've found an issue in the past couple
of months.
Some monitoring really needs to be in place because it can't afford to
have any downtime.
Errors below.

Script request
by Mike McGrath
I've got a script request for anyone who's interested (I'm both busy and
too lazy to write it myself)
I'd like to count the number of 'updates-released-7' requests in our
mirror logs that have happened in the last 24 hours. The script should
take two files as input and return a single integer, using bash. Here's
a sample log:

Upgrade metrics
by Axel Thimm
Hi,
is it possible to create some relative metrics of release upgrades,
e.g. FC5 -> FC6, FC5 -> F7?
The interesting part is to create a graph over time to answer the
question whether the 13 month EOL is really paying off. And perhaps on
base of that graph one could revise this decision. At the very leats
it would be interesting to notice the upgrade behaviour of Fedora
users.
I have no idea how to do that other than marking the HTTP Agent of yum
on F<N> accordingly, as well as the HTTP Agent in anaconda's yum
(noting fresh installs vs upgrades). Worth to add this for F8?

Merging 'Fedora Extras' and 'Fedora Core' in owners.list
by Toshio Kuratomi
Hi all,
owners.list currently contains two sections of packages, one for Fedora
Extras packages and one for Fedora Core. This is reflected in bugzilla
where we have two separate "products" for Core and Extras. In the near
future, dkl is going to merge those products into one called "Fedora" in
bugzilla and we're going to need to update owners.list to reflect that
change.
I've checked the attached script into CVSROOT/admin to do the job of
merging. When there is only one entry for a package, the only
difference will be changing the product from 'Fedora (Core|Extras)' to
'Fedora'. When there is more than one entry, the scripts merges the two
together like so:
Fedora Extras|ccid|Generic USB CCID smart card reader driver|
ville.skytta@iki.fi|extras-qa(a)fedoraproject.org|
ludovic.rousseau(a)gmail.com
Fedora Core|ccid|Generic USB CCID smart card reader driver|
rrelyea@redhat.com|extras-qa(a)fedoraproject.org|
Fedora|ccid|Generic USB CCID smart card reader driver|
rrelyea@redhat.com,ville.skytta@iki.fi|extras-qa(a)fedoraproject.org|
ludovic.rousseau(a)gmail.com
I'm also attaching a diff that shows the changes in the merge. I've
already looked it over for errors but the more eyes the merrier.
