Hello. I am trying to enter a description for the trans-ru mailing list [1]. Apparently, the system doesn't support a number of alphabets, such as Russian, Tamil, Persian. Also Japanese, I assume. Descriptions in languages are displayed incorrectly. Is there a way to fix it? FINAL FREEZE reminder (2011-10-25 to 2011-11-08)

(Or until the release if it slips) Note that final freeze includes many more machines than pre-release freezes. I think this is a great idea but haven't managed to follow the lead. Working on next FAS release

Greetings, I'm going to start work on the next Fedora Account System release targetting the couple weeks after the Fedora release. I don't know of any blocker bugs that still need to be fixed so it may be that I'll just be making sure that what's in the repository now is set to be translated and then pushed out after release. If anyone either: * has patches that they want to get in and tested * bugs that they think I might be able to fix before the release * bugs that they think should be blockers to release Please let me know (on this list or IRC). This release is intended mostly for getting the majority of hotfixes that are in infrastructure's puppet repository into an rpm package as well as pulling some other features (like a more readable captcha) into production. If anyone would like to work on additional features for the next release, please let me know and I'll help get you up to speed. -Toshio

FREEZE Break: add hosted01 to backup01 backups

In the past, hosted01 has rsync'd it's content to hosted02, and then hosted02 gets backed up to backup01. However, we are currently having an odd network issue on serverbeach05/hosted02, causing it to not have external connectivity periodically, which means backups to backup01 fail. ;( So, as a short term solution I'd like to just backup hosted01 directly to backup01. This will cause it a bit more load, but I think it can handle it these days. FREEZE break request: reboot backup01

I noticed backup01 hasn't processed any backups recently. Seems the tape drive is stuck, and likely a reboot will clear it up. +1's for reboot? kevin

FREEZE break request: bladecenter01 switch reset

Looks like we lost access to one of the switches in bladecenter01 and it needs to be reset. This will require: - disable x86-01->x86-07 from koji. - wait for all builds on those to finish. - reset the switch - have RHIT folks get into it and work on it. - when it's all clear/set, re-enable builders. compose-x86-01 is also on that bladecenter, but as long as no composes are happening it shouldn't cause any issues. None of the machines should reboot, just loose connectivity for a minute or two. I'd like to get this done sooner rather than later... this will also allow us to finally get the ppc blades on the right vlan to give to the ppc secondary arch folks. kevin

I happened to notice that virthost08 lacks a default route. This doesn't cause too many problems, but it does cause one: ntpd can't reach any ntp servers, which means that it and it's guests (app03 and value04) are drifting off on time (currently about 40 seconds off). I'd like to fix the default route on virthost08 and also run a 'ntpdate' on all machines, since virthosts and app03 are in the freeze, I'd like to get +1's. ;) Here's a rundown on drift: All, My name is Willard Sterling, I go by Will. I've been a UNIX System Administrator for ~14 years. In my day job I work with Linux; Red Hat, CentOS and SUSE; Solaris; AIX; HP-UX and Tru64. I also teach Linux and UNIX courses on system administration and shell scripting a few times a year. I have a C.S. background and do know C, C++, Java and a some Perl but it is all a little rusty as I have not much programming over the last decade. I'm joining the Infrastructure team to give back to the community and expose myself to technologies like Puppet that I do not get to use at my day job. I'd like to work on infrastructure automation projects but am also willing to work on odds and ends to keep tickets moving through the queue. Change Request: Update raffle app to get rid of end user bugs

The raffle application is on the app servers so it is subject to change freeze. It has not yet started officially hosting a raffle. I've been working on some bugfixes to the end user interface and would like to deploy a new rpm. The rpm is presently deployed in stg. If the new rpm destabilises other apps on the app server we can either rollback to an earlier version of the raffle (0.3) or disable it entirely until after freeze. Changes: * Fix cla+1 restriction * Add support for multiple images for a prize with navigation between them * Add a per-user summary page to view the raffle tickets they have submitted I may have other fixes to the admin interface that could be deployed later or I may wait until after freeze. Need to talk to the ambassadors about when they're planning to host their raffle/if there's any other end user UI changes that they want me to implement. Could I get two +1's to deploy the new rpm? -Toshio

Summary: - dgilmore does not have enough time. - told to suck it up and get over it - lmacken putting out a new release of bodhi before the freeze - toshio is hotfixing fas very soon before the freeze - pingou was concerned about a patch for the planet css he sent that was ignored - patch was evaluated and he was told to commit it after talking with the websites people to make sure stuff wasn't obviously wrong with it. - toshio will file an easyfix ticket for adding dns aliases for our db servers - so instead of remembering that fas is on db## and wiki is on db05 we can just remember: db-fas and db-wiki and db-smolt and db-ask and what not. ssh private keys on our systems

Hi, I'd like to put a new policy in place which goes something like this: If you upload your private keys (encrypted or not) we will remove them, then we will remove your public keys from FAS and force you to login and give a new one in FAS. We do the last step on the basis that your private key, being on a networked, multi-user machine is now exposed to the world and potentially compromised. So we can no longer trust it. thoughts? Packages installed on app servers but not in puppet

So when I reinstalled app04 I found that its packages differed from all the app servers by quite a bit. I hand installed the django packages but then saw that not all the same packages are on the app servers.. app01, app02, app03 PyYAML bzr bzrtools git libprelude-python libpreludedb-python mercurial perl-Git php-bcmath pysvn python-demjson python-lxml python-markdown2 python-openid python-pydns python-twisted python-twisted-conch python-twisted-lore python-twisted-mail python-twisted-names python-twisted-news python-twisted-runner python-twisted-words subversion app07 had some of these but not the twisted.. there are also a lot of gnome packages on the app servers which iam not sure were needed. -- Stephen J Smoogen.
