by Aoife Moloney
Hi Everyone,
Please note there will be an outage from 1030 UTC tomorrow, Wednesday 24th
March until end of day 25th March (time TBD) to facilitate the deployment
and configuration of the new Fedora Accounts system in production.
In case you missed it, some mails went out on Friday 19th March & an update
on correct dates on Monday 22nd March on what the result of this outage
will mean for you. Read them here in case you missed them

During this outage period the Fedora Accounts team will be working though
configuring all applications and services to connect with the new
applications. You may notice little to no disruption, however during this
period if you do lose abilities within a service or recieve an 'unknown
user' message, please wait for a few minutes to one hour and try again. You
may need to re-sign in with your password.
For any issues that persist, please dont hesitate to reach out to the team
on IRC on #fedora-aaa.
On behalf of the Fedora Accounts team, thank you for your patience and
cooperation during this final stage of the project!
Kindest regards,
Aoife

Planned outage for Fedora Account System 2021-03-24 10:30UTC
by Mark O'Brien
All,
Last week there was an announcement sent on the planned outage due to the
migration to the new Fedora Account System. Unfortunately, we made an error
in the starting date when writing the announcement.
We intend to start the outage on Wednesday 2021-03-24 10:30UTC which will
last for approximately two days. Having the outage on a Wednesday and
Thursday allows an extra working day before the weekend to address any
issues should they arise.
We know this is not ideal and apologize for the short notice of this
correction.
This outage has been planned to migrate systems with as little interruption
as possible to services for users. During this 'outage' time, you may
experience a sudden 'user unknown' scenario. In this case, please try to
re-authenticate into the service after an hour.
If this change causes a major issue please contact us as soon as possible
to let us try to address the situation in advance of the outage.
We had always planned for this outage to be on Wednesday and Thursday, but
misread our own calendar when sending the earlier announcement.
For details on how this effects you please see this mail
https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/devel-announce@lists.fedora...
Apologies,
The Fedora Account System team

Congrats to Tomáš Hrčka
by Kevin Fenzi
Greetings.
I'm happy to announce that Tomáš Hrčka (fas: humaton, irc: jednorozec)
has been added to our sysadmin-main group.
This is the core group of trusted folks that high level access to most
everything in fedora infrastructure.
Tomáš has been doing a great job working on releng tasks as well as
releng apps and scripting and the like.
He's proved his dedication, trustworthiness, and ability.
Congrats!
Use your powers for good! :)

Postgresql server in aws.f.o
by Miroslav Suchý
Hi.
In Copr we use postgresql on copr-frontend. I decide that it is time to split it off to separate server. I am going to
create new machine in AWS and deploy postgresql there. I have several open questions:
* is there interest in having it as general sql server in AWS datacenter for some other fedora-infra projects? Or
should I not bother about it and just keep it for Copr?
* I plan to reuse roles/postgresql_server for that - any issue with this?
* if the server will be open for other Fedora project (first question) should I amend
playbooks/groups/postgresql-server.yml or should I rather create new playbook?
* I would love to run the server on RHEL 8. That should be completely fine according to
https://www.redhat.com/en/blog/extending-no-cost-red-hat-enterprise-linux...
do we have stored somewhere role or credentials which configure subscription-manager?
* I plan to use arm64 for that server - mostly because I can and it can be fun :) (and it is a bit cheaper) - any
issue with this?
