Deleting old AMIs in AWS

FYI I plan to continue in AWS cleanup on Friday. I waited till Freeze is over - just to be safe. And now I want to delete the old AMIs. Likely in several waves. Going from oldest to ~2021. In this step I plan to keep the associated snapshots. So if I break something we can still restore the AMI. BTW - quick summary where we are with the cleanup stuff: * all VM, volumes have tag FedoraGroup * all gp2 volumes are migrated to gp3 * All AMIs with name 'Fedora-AtomicHost-*' are deleted. Including associated snapshots * all Fedora GA AMIs and snapshots are tagged with FedoraGroup. * all old (2021-) snapshots with no associated AMIs are deleted. -- Miroslav Suchy, RHCA Red Hat, Manager, Packit and CPT, #brno, #fedora-buildsys

I'm happy to announce that We have approved a new member in our sysadmin-main group: jnsamyak - Samyak Jain This is the core group of trusted folks that high level access to most everything in fedora infrastructure. Samyak has been heading our Release Engineering efforts over the last few releases. He's done a great job in keeping things flowing and doing all the difficult release milestones. Having this access should help him in his release engineering duties and take on more tasks. He has proved his dedication, trustworthiness, and ability. Congrats! Use your powers for good! :) kevin

Matrix: @markrosenbaum:fedora.im Hi All, I'm hoping to get involved in Fedora Infra so here's my intro. I've worked in Infra for quite a while now and have a large amount of experience working in both System Administration and Network Engineering. I've also been in the Cybersecurity space a while(while not as applicable here compared to system administration) and have done work for organizations ranging from CERN to Google. Before the Fedora Project I started of working on the Chromium Project and am still currently a contributor to it.(mark.rosenbaum(a)chromium.org). In my free time I love skiing when in season, volunteer for the red cross, and am an Auxiliary Emergency Management Personnel for my state. Within Fedora I am currently a fedora-join member and would love to get started in Infra by joining the fi-apprentice group and taking a look around. Hello all, My name is kesha and this is my introduction. How much time I can contribute: 2-4 hours a week. Ideally. Programming Languages: I am familiar with Go and have written a few Lambdas utilizing AWS' api as well as a few personal scripts. System Administration Skills: I am currently employed as a System Administrator. I also have an RHCSA cert (RHEL 8 :/ so expired). I have experience with virtual machine deployment via AWS EC2, Proxmox, Vagrant and Linode. I have experience with containerization and deployment via AWS ECS/ECR, Podman and Docker(-compose). I have experience with Automation using tools such as Gitlab CI, Jenkins (it has been years), Ansible and Terraform. I have experience deploying and managing mailing lists via Mautic, Sendgrid and AWS SES. I have experience deploying and managing mail servers such as Zimbra and Carbonio. I have experience deploying and managing collaboration software such as Gitlab, Nextcloud and Rocket.Chat. I have very limited experience with K8s. What I would like to learn: I would like to strengthen my Automation skills. I find utilizing pipelines with Go, Ansible and Terraform scripts to be the most enjoyable and I would like more practice with these technologies. My goals: Introduce myself > Create Fedora Account > Join the Infrastructure SIG IRC and Matrix chat > Attend Meetings if feasible (timezones) > Observe how the team works > Find a specific issue I can help with. AWS usage per group (June)

Here comes June edition of resources running in AWS. It's a snapshot of resources running today. I see some gp2 usage there so I want to remind you that gp2 is slower **and** expensive compared to gp3. So unless it is rootfs it does not make sense to allocate it.
