How does an apprentice graduate ?

Hi all,

Is there an official way for an apprentice to move ot the next level  ? (
joining the sysadmin group ?).

I was looking at [0] but could find anything about how an apprentice stops
being an apprentice.

When sponsors of the sysadmin group working in the area they have been
working feels that they are ready to 'graduate' they can add them to
sysadmin/sysadmin-whatever group to help in that area full time.

In the past we had 'FIGs' (Functional Interest Groups) which allowed
apprentices to focus on some area (like monitoring or some specific app,
etc). In practice that ended up mostly being sysadmin-noc that everyone
got added to.

One thing to keep in mind is that it's not really about groups or privs
you have, those are more secondary to getting things done, but I agree
it would be nice to have a more formal process or milestones for
apprentices to know when they are 'graduated'.

Open to ideas, lets here em!

Thanks for the answer, I could not find a better word than "graduate" :-) .
I don't have a clear process or possible milestone in mind at the moment
but I ll definitely give it some thought. I guess it would help apprentice
to have something to check against and see the progress they are making.
