Puppet required?
by Avram Lubkin
I was looking over the project and it looks interesting, much improved over
Spacewalk. I particularly like how different projects are used instead of
one monolithic project. There's just one thing that concerns me. It looks
like if I want to do provisioning I have to use Foreman and if I use
Foreman I have to use Puppet. Since Puppet requires ruby installed on all
clients I can't deploy it. This is due to a security requirement. I can't
add interpreters to a system unless I have a good justification. I can do
what puppet does without adding another interpreter, so I can't justify it.
I know there are lots of organizations that use puppet and probably install
Ruby to support it, but I've never worked with a group that would allow
that. Any plans to support CFengine or something similar that wouldn't
require another interpreter on the clients? Python is Okay too, since any
RHEL or RHEL-like system already has it.
Please reply all, not on the list.
Thanks,
Avram

Katello - Password Mismatch
by Michael Burbury
Dear Katello List,
After rebuilding a new Katello server, I am facing an issue as per the below:
[Mon Feb 20 14:49:41 2012] [info] [client XX.XX.XX.XX] mod_wsgi (pid=3029, process='', application=''): Loading WSGI script '/srv/pulp/repo_auth.wsgi'.
[Mon Feb 20 14:49:41 2012] [error] [client XX.XX.XX.XX] Client certificate did not match the global repo auth CA certificate
[Mon Feb 20 14:49:41 2012] [error] [client XX.XX.XX.XX] user /CN=<long number>: authentication failure for
"/pulp/repos/MyOrg/DCIS/custom/DCIS/EPEL-X86-64/repodata/repomd.xml": Password Mismatch
[Mon Feb 20 14:49:41 2012] [info] [client XX.XX.XX.XX] Connection closed to child 4 with standard shutdown (server katello.cloud.internal:443)
I tried downgrading the mod_wsgi and it worked briefly until after I restarted the server.
I then tried updating mod_wsgi to this:
[katello ~]# rpm -qa |grep mod_wsgi
mod_wsgi-3.3-3.pulp.fc16.x86_64
But the error persists.
I have tried downgrading again and various iterations, but I have become stuck.
Would anyone be able to offer hints please?
Thank you,
Michael Burbury

Re: Did a re-install now almost there.
by Michael Burbury
Dear Ivan,
Thank you very much. I went with option 1 as you suggested:
1. Downgrade mod_wsgi to mod_wsgi-3.2-6.pulp available on [3]
Katello is now functioning perfectly.
Thank you to everyone and Happy New Year!
Mike.

product create
by matt walsh
Hi all,
Ok. Finally, I can create products in katello. Here's what I had to do:
mkdir /etc/pki/pulp/content
chown -R apache:apache /etc/pki/pulp
service pulp-server init
katello-configure (used the --answer-file=/tmp/answer-file for settings)
All appears to work.....for now. :-) Thanks you Lukas and Tom for assisting.
Thanks,
