I see your ticket uses proxy_host whereas the pulp recipe page I saw (http://pulp-rpm-user-guide.readthedocs.org/en/latest/recipes.html#use-a-proxy) uses proxy_url. I've tried the files with the various combinations, but still get nothing. Same error in the pulp.log too.

The zone this box is in can't access the web proxy that doesn't require user authentication. Is this a problem?
