Serious problem in update notifier

Most of the time I update via a yum command, but occasionally use the update notifier. A couple of times I've seen a message saying that the update is completed, and a re-start is needed. However, clearing that message and seeing the KPackageKit screen, I see that only 15-20% of the package download is completed. This sounds like a dangerous situation, to me. Update concern

This morning I set my netbook to update, then walked away, leaving it working. When I came back I found that it was complete, but then: kdeinit4: preparing to launch /usr/lib/libkdeinit4_kbuildsycoca4.so <unknown program name>(29971)/ KStartupInfo::createNewStartupId: creating: "AA1;1254466478;647275;29971_TIME0" : "unnamed app" kbuildsycoca4 running...
