I use Fedora12 (KDE) on ati hd3850 ,but it seems working bad on it. When i
open the start menu ,the color of all items on it seems changing and the
desktop fold changing with it . Addtionally, I have not installed the ati
offical drivers , i use what fedora 12 provides . So any advice?

I am forwarding this from the fedora mailing list. I have the same (small)
problem as described above, it is really a small annoyance.
Has anyone else using ati cards with the radeon driver seen this? Is there a
bug report open? If not I will open a new bugzilla entry and I will ask to the
OP to add further details to this report.

So what is to do to reenable pulseAudio? I have installed F12 from kde live
yesterday and only the ati sound device is working (once there was a time I
removed pulseAudio as soon as possible but now I like the approach).

Dolphin folder rename behavior
by Tim Wunder
Using Fedora 11, KDE 4, and (I presume) Dolphin. When my wife tried to
rename a folder on her Desktop that happened to contain several GBs of
photo's, rather than the folder being renamed, a second folder named
what the original folder was supposed to be renamed to showed up on the
Desktop.
Why would that happen?
Renaming smaller folders seems to work properly. It's almost as if
Dolphin creates a new folder with the new name and then copies all the
files from the original to the new, then deletes the original folder.

= Agenda =
* Qt 4.6
* KDE 4.4 Beta 1
* KDE 4.3.4
* Phonon/PulseAudio issues due to the F12 Live CD missing xine-lib-pulseaudio
= Summary =
Qt 4.6:
* Qt 4.6 is now available in rawhide.
* In the next build a regression causing trouble in KMail will be fixed.
* Qt 4.6 builds for F12 will probably not be build before KDE 4.4.0.
KDE 4.4 Beta 1:
* LukasTinkl is working on KDE 4.4 Beta 1 in rawhide.
* WebKit support (which is currently disabled) needs to be reenabled.
KDE 4.3.4:
* ThanNgo started work on KDE 4.3.4.
* There will likely be no update for F-10 (at least there was no clear
decision because the EOL is quite near).
Phonon/PulseAudio issues due to the F12 Live CD missing xine-lib-pulseaudio:
* Missing xine-lib-pulseaudio on Fedora 12 Live images causes Phonon not to
use Pulseaudio.
* There seems to be no easy solution (or hacks) for enabling Pulseaudio again
on an already installed system without overwriting settings that intentionally
disabled Pulseaudio.
* An updated Phonon from trunk with a supplied device-manager-module in
Pulseaudio (#541419) could help in this issue by disabling Phonon's device
management. [1]
* KevinKofler is going to discuss shipping the device-manager module and
Phonon PA integration with lennart.

Sound used to work, now it doesn't
by Patrick O'Callaghan
Asus EeePC 1000E, F12, KDE 4.3.
I had sound configured and working. Now, without me changing anything
I'm aware of, it doesn't. System Settings shows the same info as before
(PA as first choice), Kmix has all the sliders at full and is not muted,
but even the Test button doesn't produce any sound, even when selecting
the Intel hardware directly.
The only backend I have is Xine, though I seem to remember that
Gstreamer is now preferred. I installed everything gstreamer-related I
could find, including all the plugins, and I still only get offered
Xine. What else can I do?

font size in panel
by Neal Becker
Sometimes when I login, the panel (or at least, the task manager?)
starts with a nice, small font. Other times, I get a large one.
Long ago, this was caused by plasma crashing on login, and restarting (I
think). It seemed that at first it had the small font, but when it
crashed and restarted, it had the large font. I see no evidence that
it's crashing now, but I don't understand what's going on. I would like
the small font, so I have more real estate.

Launch feedback issue
by Roderick Johnstone
Hi
I'm on kde in Fedora 12 and I have launch feedback / Task bar
notification set.
When I start firefox or thunderbird from plasma or from the kickoff menu
I get a bouncing icon that runs till the timeout (30s).
The only slightly strange thing in my setup is that the firefox command
(icon settings/application) is set to firefox %u and that resolves to a
script in (nfs mounted) /usr/local/bin. This is so I can launch
different firefoxes depending on which system I'm on.
I'd be grateful if anyone can suggest why the bouncing icon keeps going
till timeout or can point me to some docs that explain how the launch
feedback works.
Thanks
Roderick Johnstone
