Intermittent audio errors at login
by Mary Ellen Foster
I wanted to check if anyone else is seeing this: I'm running Fedora
11(-to-be) with (as far as I know) the default pulseaudio
configuration. Sometimes when I log in -- I'd say over 50% of the time
but I'm not sure -- everything basically freezes (mouse moves, menus
work, but nothing starts) for over a minute. Then I get a dialogue box
titled "Removed Sound Devices" that says:
KDE detected that one or more internal sound devices were removed.
*Do you want KDE to permanently forget about these devices?*
This is the list of devices KDE thinks can be removed:
- Output: PulseAudio Sound Server
(Sometimes the device is "Capture: Default" instead.)
Is this just me? I've realised I've been ignoring it for a while
because it only seems to happen on login so I forget about it after
that, but it probably does deserve some investigation...

Re: kde-4.2.85 landing in kde-redhat/unstable
by Colin J Thomson
Hi,
Installation went fine as always :-)
Only one problem so far is Gwenview now crashes #190478.
Minor problem is shading, when double clicking the Titlebar the window does
not hide unless I grab the titlebar and move it.
These worked fine in 4.2.3 I'll do some more tests and research on kde.bugs
in the week.
Thanks to all involved.

Help with akonadi
by José Abílio Matos
I have updated to 4.3 beta 1 and as a general rules it works quite well. There
are not many visual differences compared with 4.2.3 and the general feeling is
of it to be a bit more polished in every sense. It is really shaping well. :-)
The only more serious problem I had is with akonadi. I don't see the same
resources I had before. In this specific case my problem is with an ical
resource where I have my todos. I have an older copy but it seems that some of
the changes have been made to a different place (I suspect the mysql database)
but I am not sure how and where to find the missing bits.
In this case I though I had all the backups but it seems I was wrong. :-(
Is there are place where I can find this information?
I tried userbase.kde.org but the information about akonadi is sparse and the
rpms don't seem to have any documentation files.

Fedora Board Elections
by Arthur Pemberton
Does the KDE-Sig have any plans on putting forward a representative
for the elections? I believe I have a valid FAS account and would be
willing to place my vote.

Broken widgets
by Patrick O'Callaghan
Several widgets (or plasmoids, the terminology seems to vary) won't open
because something called "ggl" is missing, e.g. The Online Dictionary
widgoid says "Could not open the ggl_4 package required for the Online
Dictionary widget". This is on KDE 4.2.3-1.fc11.x86_64.
I can't find anything about "ggl" in the repos. Anyone know what's going
on?

Re: KMess rpm?

I know, but it would be really nice to have KMess's rpm in Fedora's
repositories. I don't think that an rpm built that way could get into
the repositories because the resulting .spec would be too vague, am I right?

Thanks! I'll test it asap!
By the way I already have a bugfix for you:

I think you meant "focus" instead of "ocus"...
