When I select a different desktop, the pager flashes a big display for a second of all my desktops as a set of icons with embedded arrows showing where I'm coming from and going to; I'm sure some programmer spent a lot of time on this, and some will like it, but I really don't - does any one know of a way to turn this off? -- Claude Jones Brunswick, MD, USA

Akonadi problems

On one box, starting Kontact brought up akonadi's migration tool, and everything seems to be working. On the Acer Aspire One, though, akonadi has run into difficulty. How to stop this scrolling?

I never claimed to have wonderful mouse control, and every now and then I find that I have enabled scrolling, like an autocue. I'm sitting in a KMail directory with a message containing log printout, and the d* thing is scrolling away slowly. I can't stop it. There has to be a way. Let me into the secret? Was working OK on F10. Now, with F11 kde-plasma-networkmanagement-0.1-0.11.20090504svn.fc11.x86_64 No longer will connect to my wireless WPA. Keeps asking for password. I gave up and tried nm-applet. Connects fine.

KDE completly broken in Rawhide?

Hi, I've just updated from F11 -> Rawhide, however I can not login into kde anymore. I even deleted ~/.kde. KDE starts up with the splash-screen, but plasma never shows up. As far as I can tell, there are no 4.2.85 packages in the kde-redhat x86_64 repositories, only in 32-bit. Is there a plan to add them? Running preupgrade (F10->F11) gives a number of messages like: 1:qt-x11-4.5.1-13.fc10.x86_64 from installed has depsolving problems --> Missing Dependency: libcrypto.so.7()(64bit) is needed by package 1:qt- x11-4.5.1-13.fc10.x86_64 (installed) This sounds scary. Am I going to have no kde if I continue this upgrade? Is it fixable?

f11 builds (thanks to MathStuf) will be landing in kde-redhat/unstable repos soonish, I'm still working my way through f10 ones. this is 4.3beta1 by the way, expect it to eat babies and kittens. We've done very little testing other than "woo it builds, SHIP IT!". Enjoy. -- Rex

kde-redhat repos are strained space-wise, so I'll take things offline tomorrow to install another big driver or 2. Should give us ample space to provide -debuginfo pkgs moving forward. Kpackagekit crashes after packagekit update

On F11, there was an update to a new upstream version of PackageKit today -- 0.4.8-1, and now kpackagekit crashes on start. Before I put this in bugzilla, I just wanted to check whether a new kpackagekit was in the pipeline or not. I didn't see anything in the updates system ... Cheese crashing

When I launched cheese on the Acer Aspire One I saw what looked like the startup screen, but then it immediately crashed. I'm wondering whether it is a problem of missing driver or something else. Three minor glitches in KDE 4.2.85

Hi everyone, I'm running KDE 4.2.85 (most recent, from kde-redhat repo's) here and I was curious about 3 things. I want to make sure it's not just me having these problems; 1. CTRL + W does not seem to work in general. 2. Kopete is not able to send a message to a (jabber) group (I don't have any other groups so I'm not able to investigate this further). 3. The list of Default Klipper actions seems to be empty. I did a (really quick) search on them at bugs.kde.org but nothing showed up so far. Perhaps it's also interesting to know that I moved my whole .kde directory after installing, to make sure that most of my old KDE settings were gone.
