WANTED: Fedora KDE QA Testers
by Paul Scott
I'm willing to have a crack at qa testing, please add me to the list.
I'll start off with Fedora 11 and rawhide right now.
I assume running test systems virtually under VirtualBox is acceptable?
Cheers,
Paul.

Kpackagekit notification
by Colin J Thomson
Hi,
I just found out I have a stack of updates waiting but it seems the
notification icon is not working. I normally use Smart for the KDE
updates and Packagekit for the rest of the system.
Can anyone confirm this before I dig deeper,
I have tried everything to get it to work with no luck so far. I'm not
sure if this would be a KDE RC issue or not and as to when this problem
appeared I'm not sure.
Cheers
Colin

Launch(5)?
by Richard Heck
Does anyone know what the default "Launch(5)" shortcut for increasing
brightness is supposed to be?
Does anyone know if there's been any work on getting KDE to recognize
key combinations like Fn+F5?

o kde4-rc3 status
o security fixes
o test day ideas
= Summary =
o kde4-rc3 status:
* KDE 4.3-rc3 is already built for rawhide.
* The packages in kde-redhat repository were also taken for a review of KDE
4.3. [1]
o security fixes:
* KevinKofler has committed the security fixes into CVS.
* The fix for CVE-2009-1725 (improper handling of numeric character
references) seems incomplete and has to be updated again.
* ThanNgo will contact KDE Security Team because of the few security
announcements in the past.
o test day ideas:
* phonon-backend-gstreamer (#513421, already ON_DEV by ThanNgo) [2]
* kpackagekit: installing unsigned packages
o Open discussion:
* WilliamStephenson gave a brief update on kde-networkmanagement development:
- The design of NetworkManager leaves many things up to the clients. Much of
these weren't implemented in the current version.
- A redesign is now mostly implemented.
- Now 90% of the clients work is done by some libraries.
- Also the plasmoid is being rewritten to reflect these changes.
- A monolithic standalone systray applet (which was written to test these
changes) is almost in a shippable state.
- The plasmoid itself isn't yet (some outstanding items: VPNC support, WPA-
EAP, cellular support)

gpg problems
by Anne Wilson
I can't get gpg to start on the new F11 install. The url I had for startup
and shutdown scripts is now invalid - it was on fedorahosted.org. Where would
they be now, please?

A first task for Rawhide KDE testers
by Kevin Kofler
Hi,
for all those who're signing up to test KDE, here's a first task for you: go
through the Phonon-GStreamer test cases at:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/SIGs/KDE/Phonon-GStreamer_Test_Plan
and report your results.
I'll see if we can get a KDE live image from Rawhide built so you have a
faster way to get a default installation. Note that upgraded installations
are probably NOT default installations, you may be left with:
* phonon-backend-xine installed instead of phonon-backend-gstreamer (easily
remedied with yum install phonon-backend-gstreamer; rpm -e phonon-backend-
xine) and
* stale Phonon settings messing up things – those are harder to get rid of,
unfortunately.
Still, test results from upgraded installations are also worthwhile.

How stable is KDE 4.2 in unstable ?
by linux guy
I'm chomping at the bit to start using KDE 4.3.
How stable is 4.2.9x in /unstable ? How would I install it without
enabling /unstable for everything ?
When do we expect KDE 4.3 to be pushed into /stable ?
Thanks !

Firefox bookmarks
by Anne Wilson
I seem to have lost my bookmarks. It used to be just a matter of copying
bookmarks.html from old-gobbledegook.default to new-gobbledegook.default.
That doesn't seem to work now. Does anyhone know how it's done now? Thanks

TESTING: KDE4 KRename testing request
by Ben Boeckel
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
Hi,
Any testers want to test the under-development KDE4 version of
KRename? A cursory glance seems to indicate it is mostly feature
complete. It is only missing some menus (which only reiterated
some things, so nothing *crucial*) and undo script creation
support (which I consider show stopper for stable at least). I'll
have an RPMs up on cledwyn in the repo for F10/F11/devel for i586
and x86_64 by tomorrow if all goes well (I'll post here when it is
done with the .repo file). Thanks in advance.
- --Ben
P.S. - I'm assuming a "TESTING" tag on mails for the testing team.
Any other ideas?

Lost login manager
by Anne Wilson
In a new F11 install I accidentally installed Gnome alone. I've added KDE
now, but can't remember exactly what I need to do to get the KDE login
manager. I thought it was in /etc/sysconfig/displaymanager, but I think I need
two lines in there and I can only remember "DISPLAYMANAGER=kdm". Is that
right, and what is the second line (which I assume is the login manager line)?
Thanks
