Very long login/logout times
by Colin J Thomson
Hi,
As the Subj says and it has been getting progressively worse during the
4.3-rc series, long as in up to ~30 seconds to reach the login screen
when logging out, starting kde takes a very long time also from the
initial splash ~ 30-40 seconds.
Any suggestions how to debug this?

KDE 4.3RC3 (4.2.98)
by Clive Messer
I've just updated my f11 to KDE 4.3RC3 from kde-unstable. Seem to be missing
kdebase-4.2.98 packages?
kgpg is now starting minimised - which is good.

KDE 4.2.98 and Konqueror: timeout problem
by Dmitrij S. Kryzhevich
Hi!
There is a problem with Konqueror: some pages are not opened from fist time
with "Timeout error".
More extended. When I open in new Tab some pages, for example, from
https://fedorahosted.org/web/index I tried to open
https://fedorahosted.org/fedora-kde-artwork/, I get at exactly that moment
"Timeout error" with some explonations about:
===
Timeout for establishing a connection: 20 seconds
Timeout for receiving a response: 600 seconds
Timeout for accessing proxy servers: 10 seconds
===
Sure, those timeoutes are not exceeded, there is less then 1 sec. After couple
of Refreshes (green cycle button or F5) in is opening normal. Upto next time.
which could be _next_ time.

missing Icons
by Colin J Thomson
Hi,
A nice smooth update as usual :)
I notice some missing Icons (the text labels are there) in Akregator's
toolbar which is running in Kontact, forward, back delete stop and
refresh.
Running Akregator on its own all is well.
I'll go search kde.bugs, but wonder if anyone else is seeing this.
Cheers

Kopete doesn't work with Bonjour
by Arthur Pemberton
I'm not usually one to complain, but 100% reproducible crashes with
(as of yet) no useful KCrashes is kind of bad.
I wanted to play around with Bonjour. I added an account in Kopete, no
problem. I remoted to another machine and installed and setup Pidgin
for the same purpose. As soon as Pidgin comes online, Kopete crashes.
I reload Kopete, and try to bring the bonjor account online. Kopete
crashes immediately again. This suggests to me that Bonjor simply
wasn't tested on at least this version of Kopete,
kdepim-4.2.4-1.fc10.i386
BTW, is there a way to keep the debuginfo files up to date with yum? I
always seem to have to do a debuginfo-install
Also, are KCrash reports ever useful without the debug packages installed?
I eventually install Pidgin to continue my experiment.

The Device Notifier
by Richard Heck
Hi,
I'm trying to write a little desktop file that will allow me just to
mount newly inserted devices, rather than to open them with Dolphin. I
can see roughly how to do this, but have two questions:
(i) Is there some local place one can put such files, instead of
/usr/share/kde4/apps/solid/actions/? I've tried putting the file in
.kde/share/kde4/apps/solid/actions/, but that didn't work, and I also
tried .kde/share/apps/solid/actions/.
(ii) How on earth would one go about just mounting the device? Is there
some call to hal or whatever that can be made?
Cheers,
Richard

Switching display resolution
by Anne Wilson
Is there a quick method of switching display resolution? I'm thinking of
user-enabled, for when an external display is attached. It used to be
possible to have an Xrandr icon in the tray but that doesn't seem to be an
option now.
