qtcurve
by Petrus de Calguarium
I switched to qtcurve from oxygen a week ago. At first, I was
somewhat dismayed that I would have to give up oxygen for a
theme that simply does not completely clone the clean oxygen
look in order to get the gtk applications to harmoniously fall
in line.
After a week of fine tuning and accustomizing myself...
QtCurve is really a very nice piece of work!!!

KNode: same newsgroup, different locations
by Timothy Murphy
Is there any way of configuring KNode
so that if one moves from one location with news-server A
to another location with news-server B
the same items are listed as seen in both cases?

Needing help with display problems
by Anne Wilson
My new laptop has an Intel WXGA video card - and I have no more detail than
that. dpms identifies it as an "LCD panel 1280x1024", yet X insists that
1024x768 is the best it can do. That produces horrible distortions, so it's
important to get this sorted.
I tried commenting out the dpms option and adding a Modes line, but still I'm
stuck with the same display. Running xrandr in konsole gives me
Screen 0: minimum 640 x 480, current 1024 x 768, maximum 1024 x 768
default connected 1024x768+0+0 0mm x 0mm
1024x768 61.0*
800x600 61.0
640x480 60.0
1024x600 0.0
Before I tried to fix things I think I was seeing 1024 x 600, as the 1024x768
does fill my screen, whereas the original display was taller than the screen.
Any ideas what might be causing the problem, and what I could do about it?

screen locking flaky
by Neal Becker
I have powerdevil set to lock screen when idle more than 10 min. But, it
seems to work at random. Sometimes I come to my laptop and it locked, other
times (like just now I was away @a meeting for 1.5 hours), and it's not
locked. This behavior seems to have started within the last several weeks.

How to test polkit-kde on F-12
by Radek Novacek
There has been some thoughts to add polkit-kde to Fedora 12 recently. I've
made a test plan [1] to ensure that polkit-kde is ready to be integrated.
Anyone who is interested can walk through few step from above mentioned test
plan and tell us the result. You can add your feedback to that wiki page [1]
or reply to this email directly.

For desktops that ships own polkit agent you don't need this freedom. Actually
it's quite bad - own polkit agent is usually designed to be an integral part
of it. For now - polkit-kde is standalone package but it's for now before
transition from the old one to new one is done. Then we'd like to have it as
part of kdebase-workspace again and shipped together. Of course - situation
for other desktops could be different (Xfce etc.) and this has to be solved.

Hi Matthias.
We were discussing polkit agent reorganization @ our kde sig meeting -
cwickert joined us too [1].
Could you clarify autostart of the agent? I agree it should be task for
desktop as it's now core component and I don't see need for users to change
this configuration. But other question is - what about desktops without own
polkit or even standalone wms? Another point is autostart desktop file - if the
agent is going to be started by autostart desktop file, this autostart belongs
to agent and should be distributed together in the agent package. Could be
ShowOnlyIn option considered as the correct way to achieve no autostarting in
other desktops?

Did you change the "KDE Component" to Kwin ? I don't have mine setup, but I
see the menu:

Kdevelop RC not locating plugins
by Ravi
Hi,
The kdevelop RC in kde-unstable (kdevelop-3.10.0-1.fc12.x86_64) has plugin
loading issues; see error messages below. However, if I download the sources
for kdevelop and kdevplatform directly, and build it myself, the plugins are
found correctly. If I simply install kdevplatform-devel and build kdevelop by
myself, the errors persist. I am not sure where the problem lies. Here's the
console output of starting kdevelop (from the rpm):
