KMail2 - problem solved (temporarily?)
by Timothy Murphy
I had the problem that on opening KMail
I got the error message "Failed to fetch the resource collection."
I seem to have solved the problem, more or less randomly,
by creating a directory /tim/home/Maildir .
This allowed me to start KMail,
and I went to Accounts, double-clicked on Local Folders
and entered /home/tim/Maildir where asked
"Select the folder containing the maildir information:"

F16 Bug?
by Ed Greshko
Just installed F16 from DVD on a VirtualBox VM.
Upon logging in under KDE the icon appeared in the panel letting me know
that 114 updates were available. Clicking on the icon brings up the
update screen. Hitting "apply" seems to download the updates but then
the process gets stalled with "Waiting for Service to Start" displayed.
I then performed "yum update" in a terminal and found that gpg keys
needed to be downloaded.
Has anyone found this too?

Startup Config Question
by Ed Greshko
When KDE starts, what file is consulted to determine what
workspace/desktop is displayed?
My login is starting in workspace/desktop 6 and I'd like to change that
to 1 but can't find a way to change it. I must be missing something simple.

KMail2 under Fedora-16
by Timothy Murphy
KMail2 ran fine a few times,
after the initial transfer from KMail went through without problems.
But then the error message
"Failed to fetch the resource collection"
came up, and continues to come up whenever I start KMail2.
Of course many people have experienced this,
and I haven't seen any cure proposed.
If I click the OK button on the message, kmail exits at once.
However, I observe that if I just push the message to the bottom of the page
kmail appears to work fine;
I can read all my email, including new messages.
(I'm accessing email on my laptop from an IMAP server on a remote machine.)
However, I cannot post messages;
I get an error message that there is a problem with the mail queue.
(This could be due to the fact that my UID has changed,
user IDs now starting at 1000 in place of 500?
When moving from F-15 to F-16 or back,
I have to start as root, and run "chown -R tim.tim /home/tim",
after which I can logout as root, and login as myself.)
But it seems to me that the error message about resource collection
may just be a hangover from the first failure,
and simply needs to be removed somehow?

Disk space used?
by Anne Wilson
My /home is filling up and I need to decide what can go. The problem is that I
can't remember the name of the utility that shows me which directories are
taking up most disk space. Can someone remind me, please?

any issue with f16 upgrade?
by Neal Becker
If I'm currently at:
rpm -q kdebase
kdebase-4.7.2-2.fc15.x86_64
Should I expect any issue if I do a f16 upgrade (standard upgrade via anaconda,
not using any fedora-kde47 repo)?

gam_server heavy CPU use
by Anne Wilson
On my F15, 4.7.2 setup, gam_server is consistently using high CPU - currently
25%. Since its parent is said to be systemd I daren't kill it. Ideas?

4.7.3
by Peter G.
I wasn't expecting it until the weekend.
The update went without the slightest complaint.
Thanks for the treat :-) Have commenced testing :-)
