Filtering sent mail in KMail2
by Marko Vojinovic
Hi folks! :-)
After the main KMail2 rants have passed, I guess it is my turn to report a
problem... ;-)
After composing a new mail, I hit send, and after sending I expect the local
copy of my message to be filtered into a relevant folder, as I configured it
(before you ask --- yes, I did turn on the option "apply this filter to sent
messages" in the filter settings).
But it doesn't happen, the message gets put and stays in the default sent-mail
folder, instead of where I want it to go.
The filter itself is ok, since I can later go to sent-mail, select the message,
choose "apply all filters" from the menu (or press ctrl-j), and then the filter
works as expected, moving the message into the appropriate folder. So it does
work on manual filtering, but not automatically after the message has been
sent.
So as a workaround, after I finish writing all e-mails, I usually go to sent-
mail, select everything, apply all filters, and be done with it. But it is
slowly starting to get on my nerves, since this is really something that
should be done automatically (and was automatic in KMail1...).
Is anyone else seeing this?
I'd appreciate any advice/hints/info.
Btw, using up-to-date F16/KDE, and so far KMail2 works well for me, no other
problems.
Best, :-)
Marko

Weird ConsoleKit message
by Peter G.
I just rebooted and upon logging in, after typing my password, a message
appeared, approximately this one:
Warning! Could not open ConsoleKit session. Could not open session.
I don't recall, but I think there was only one button, that said OK. I pressed
it and the login occurred, but I couldn't get messages with knode, only a couple
of systray icons appeared, and when I tried to log out, no logout choices
appeared and the system appeared to hang, then after quite some time, it logged
out by itself.
I logged back in and now everything seems fine.
I am using updates-testing and kde-unstable, all up-to-date.
Is this a bug?

f15's kde47 repo now has kde-4.7.4 too
by Rex Dieter
subject says it all.
I currently don't have a f15 box handy, so was actually able to do any
install/runtime testing myself, so feedback would be appreciated.

kmail2 question on Fedora 15
by Lester M Petrie
Hi
I have finally gotten kmail2 to run on my Fedora 15 machine. I ended up using
an entirely different mail directory. I was able to import the mail from the
old directories into new versions. But I do have one annoying problem. My
mail is delivered directly to the machine, and spooled to /var/mail/user-id.
kmail was configured to go check the spool periodically, move the mail into my
inbox, and delete the mail from the spool. I haven't found a way to get
kmail2 to do this. Currently I have added the spool as another mailbox, and
when mail shows up, I manually move it, and then manually run a script to
delete it from the spool. How do I setup kmail2 to do the previous behavior?
Thanks.

kde focus stealing
by Chris Rouch
I'm running kde (4.7.3 on F16 currently). I have 6 desktops in 2 rows
of 3I have different applications configured to start on different
desktops, so the web browser will be on one, office apps on another,
mail client on another, with other applications (e.g konsole) able to
start anywhere. I don't want the desktop to switch when an application
is mapped, but I do want newly mapped applications to appear at the
top layer, at least for the current desktop and ideally for all.
is this possible? and if so how?
With older versions of kde (on F14 for example), I could make the
desktop not switch by setting focus stealing prevention to either high
or extreme, but this would often result in new windows appearing in
layers below the current one. And of course it's possible that the
combination of settings i have is making things worse.
I'd have thought this was a reasonably common way of working, so I'm
sure there must be a way.
Any help will be appreciated.
Regards,
Chris

WYSYWIG for HTML5
by Peter G.
Years ago, I used to build my web page with Quanta, which was included in
kdedevelop, I think.
Is it or something similar still available? I only need support for html5, no
legacy versions.

kde-4.7.4, kde-4.7.90 news
by Rex Dieter
alrighty, just to drop a quick status update:
kde-4.7.4 f16 builds are built, queue'd for updates-testing, and available
in kde-testing too
kde-4.7.90 f16 initial builds have been pushed to kde-unstable. notably
missing here is kde-l10n, and spilt kdeaccessibility packaging. currently
known broken deps that will require other packages to be (re)build include
at least: digikam (and kipi-plugins), kdevelop
Enjoy.

4.7.90 Dolphin drag/drop
by Colin J Thomson
Hi,
I have just noticed when dragging a file from the main window to the side
panel in Dolphin does not work now, no menu pops up asking copy or move the
file. This results in the file not being copied or moved.
Copying a file/folder to folder in the main window (split or single view) is
fine.

Re: kde-4.7.4, kde-4.7.90 news
by Colin J Thomson
Hi,
Well all in all 4.7.90 is quite stable.
I have not yet got to the bottom the screen turning off, I disabled the screen
saver this morning as a temp fix and the screen never turned off.
I have since turned the screen saver back on now that does not work... I need
to run more "logical" tests next week.
Something does seem to be toggling DPMS on even though I have it set to off in
my bash_profile
Kmail2 in this release has seen many fixes and is working quite well, I even
setup my Gmail for IMAP to test.. all went smoothly.
I have however found a small problem when replying to an email with
attachments, they are included in the reply:

Virtuoso seems to have settled down, but we will see what happens on the next
login.

temp kmix solution (4.7.90)
by Colin J Thomson
Hi,
Well sadly Kmix is unusable here, over time it just drags my machine to a
crawl so I have disabled it :-(
I did some searching for an alternative and came across pnmixer in fedora's
repo's, it is an old version old and limited but does the job that I use Kmix
for.
I did try and build an RPM for the current version that has more features but
it threw up a error about something defined in DSO and try adding it to the
linker... I'd need to read up on that one..
https://github.com/nicklan/pnmixer/wiki
Cheers
