nntp (aka, usenet) client in kde?
by Gene Smith
I currently use t-bird with an nntp account pointing to gmane to read
this list and sereral others. Does kde have an nntp client program of
any sort? I don't see it as a possible new account type in kmail. Also,
search with kpackagekit yields nothing with "usenet" or "nntp" that is
kde specific.

Google Chrome keeps popping up KDE Wallet dialogue
by Patrick O'Callaghan
When opening a new page, the latest Google Chrome (10.0.648.82 beta,
F14) frequently pops up a KDE Wallet dialogue asking for a keyring
password. This seems unrelated to whether the page itself wants a
password.
No previous version of Chrome did this, in fact I'm surprised Chrome has
any interaction with KDE at all.
Has anyone seen this? I'm asking here before reporting to BZ.

kdepim-4.4.x for f15
by Rex Dieter
Per our team meeting this week and after consulting upstream, the kde-sig
decided kdepim-4.6 isn't ready yet and and to roll back to kdepim-4.4.x for
fedora 15 (and ideally squeeze this in for the upcoming alpha release).
https://admin.fedoraproject.org/updates/F15/FEDORA-2011-1283
We'll continue to provide kdepim-4.6 in rawhide (targetting f16 now) and
unofficial test builds in kde-unstable repo for further testing and
feedback.

/var/log/kdm.log
by Tomas Straupis
Hello
I have a bigish /var/log/kdm.log file (272M).
As far as I understand this log file is created by KDE
(login(display?) manager)?
Is it there by default and if so, shouldn't some kde package drop a
file to /etc/logrotate.d/ to take care of the size of this log file?
Should I go to bugzilla?
(yum whatprovides /etc/logrotate.d/kdm* returns nothing, and looking
through results of yum whatprovides /etc/logrotate.d/* does not reveal
a potential kdm.log cleaner)
P.S. f14, kde4.5.5.

Incorrect resolv.conf, password prompt with kde-plasma-networkmanagement-vpnc
by Garry Williams
My /etc/resolv.conf file is generated incorrectly and I now get a
password prompt when I connect to my VPN.
I selected Store for both user and group passwords in the Edit Network
Connection - KDE Control Module dialog under the Cisco VPN tab. This
used to be effective -- no password prompt. Now a useless prompt that
won't allow any changes to the stored password pops *under* other
windows on the desktop. Before some recent update, the prompt was not
issued.
The /etc/resolv.conf problem:
In the same dialog box, under the IP Address tab for Basic Settings, I
add two name servers on the VPN network. I also add a few Search
Domains (which has never worked). The /etc/resolv.conf file is now
generated with the first DNS server address as the searchdoamin and
the second address as the only DNS server.
I did a bit of searching bugzilla, but came up empty. I'm also not
sure what component to query. I included NetworkManager and
kdenetwork.
Anyone else having problems?

Wrong keyboard on F15?
by José Abílio Matos
Hi,
I have updated my test machine from F14 to F15 (pre-alpha). The only
problem I noticed in kde is that my keyboard was reset to the american layout.
Choosing the right layout in the Control Centre fixed this issue.
Good work in any case. :-)

= Agenda =
topics to discuss:
* F15 alpha rc1 out
** Desktop Validation tests
* Live image tweaks for Beta
** (Re)add new packages to our spin (kickstart)
= Summary =
F15 alpha rc1 out
* jreznik is running Desktop Validation tests [1]
* current spins size is evil 666 MiB for 64 bit, 667 MiB for 32 bit
** we don't want to touch it before Alpha Gold
* Plasma logout crasher would be nice to have but it's not a blocker and 4.6.1
will be tagged this week (Thu 24)
Live image tweaks for Beta
* we have some free space on live CD
** 2 sets of "nice to have" packages
*** stuff that's explicitly dropped from the CD: amarok, digikam, ktorrent
*** new stuff that can be added: kamoso (once it passes review), krusader, ???
** Amarok and Digikam are preferred apps
*** but we are not sure we will have space for both (Digikam pulls Marble with
big datasets)
* AGREED: on priority being: 1. Amarok, 2. Digikam if it fits, 3. ktorrent, 4.
other stuff
** discuss the "other stuff" once we agreed on the highest priority items
* ACTION: Kevin_Kofler to do kickstart tweaks
* krusader for 1G image as it duplicates Dolphin functionality
* kamoso as optional for F15, default for F16
** it's still alpha, we need more testing but we'd like to have it one day
UPnP
* jreznik is trying to package UPnP stack
** qtsoap bundled in herqq, dependency for kio-upnp-ms

KNode: failure sending article
by Timothy Murphy
When I try to post an article to the newsgroup gmane.comp.php.drupal.user,
mirroring the mailing list support(a)drupal.org (to which I am subscribed),
I get the error message "Cannot write to file news.gmane.org".
I'm posting this partly to see if the failure applies to all gmane lists,
or if it is just this one.
But I would be interested to know why I get this message.
Incidentally, there seems to be no simple way of finding
which mailing lists the gmane newsgroups correspond to?
