hidden wifi how?

I am running F15 fully updated with: kde-plasma-networkmanagement-0.9-0.54.20110812git.nm09.fc15.x86_64 There is a wifi network which has hidden SSID (I don't like this but it is there nonetheless). I need to connect to it. At one point I could click on a list of hidden networks - at another point there was a place I could hand type in the hidden SSID - now there is nothing - it is not showing up in the list and there seems to be no way to connect to it. The network is configured, and password etc are fine when I choose "manage connections" - however all I can do there is view or edit the details but not connect. So, how do I ask the applet to connect to a known hidden wifi network? Thanks! gene

new KDE on RHEL/Centos/SL 6?

Hi all- Is there a way to run a newer KDE version on RHEL6 or its derivatives? RHEL6 comes with KDE SC 4.3. Upgrading to 4.7 would be pretty sweet. What version of Qt is required to run KDE4.7? The 4.7 release announcement says "In order to get the most out of these releases, we strongly recommend to use the latest version of Qt, as of today 4.7.4. This is necessary in order to assure a stable experience, as some improvements made to KDE software have actually been done in the underlying Qt framework." Thats pretty vague.... Cheers Hans

KNode with different ISPs

Toolbar freezing

My toolbar keeps freezing about five minutes into a session. (This affects only one of my accounts; another account, that I use less frequently, doesn't show this problem.) After that, if I don't already have a Konsole session loaded, I have to shut the machine down the hard way--by holding down the Power button for five seconds. Worse yet, I cannot start any new programs without first shutting down and restarting. Temlakos

KMail "Socket operation timed out"

I'm running KMail under Fedora-15 on a laptop with an "Onda MC833UP" (ID: 1ee8:0014") broadband dongle. Everything works fine (eg firefox, knode) except KMail, which I'm using to collect email from an IMAP server. I get an error when I try to "Check Mail", I get the message "Could not connect to host ... Socket operation timed out". I should say that everything works fine when the internet is accessed with WiFi. Also I can telnet 143 and get the message "* OK Dovecot ready" Has anyone had this problem when using a dongle? mime type errors

Hi all All of a sudden I'm seeing a lot of these when doing updates. Any idea why? And should I get rid of them? In Kmail, is there a way to.....

Good day all, I was wondering if there was a way to put a custom field into an address book contact to allow html emails, and then have kmail recognise this and allow html emails to be shown in the preview window? thanks in advance Martin

Update GTK+ Fonts, Etc (For KDE)

Hi, Just upgraded to F15, and all seems well...except the menu font in GTK apps (e.g., Thunderbird) is too small. I can't seem to find how to change this. I run under KDE, and seem to recall that there are (or were) ways to do this, nonetheless. Sorry if this has been asked before. Google did not lead to anything helpful. Richard

Wallet not working after system crash

This morning I had a system crash on a nearly up to date Fedora 15 machine. After resetting the machine I could no longer use any app that required wallet access. It took me a while to figure out the cause and only did after I removed and re-installed kopete (kdenetwork), after which a wallet dialog did pop up, but was empty and had to be created again. Then I looked again at all the apps that wouldn't run and found that they all would normally cause an access to the wallet, but instead just timed out. Even after updating the machine the problem persists. Where can I look for possible corruption? Or what can I do to cause the wallet work again. Is there a log I can review? Emmett
