nntp (aka, usenet) client in kde?
by Gene Smith
I currently use t-bird with an nntp account pointing to gmane to read
this list and sereral others. Does kde have an nntp client program of
any sort? I don't see it as a possible new account type in kmail. Also,
search with kpackagekit yields nothing with "usenet" or "nntp" that is
kde specific.

Re: Kde Startup delays for 10 - 20 seconds (partially caused by nepomuk)
by Ubay Dorta Guerra
Hello,
I have Fedora 17 with the home directory mounted via autofs (NFS)
and the following versions of kdelibs:
kdelibs-common-4.9.2-5.fc17.x86_64
kdelibs-4.9.2-5.fc17.x86_64
Sometimes the kde startup sound delays up to 1 minute (you can see
the /var/log/messages file below).
I've tried to disable nepomuk (modifed
/usr/share/kde-settings/kde-profile/default/share/config/nepomukserverrc) and
pulseaudio (removed /etc/xdg/autostart/pulseaudio-kde.desktop), and the
problem is still present.
The only way to get rid of the delay is disabling the autofs and use
the local disk for home directories.
Any hints?
Thanks in advance.

No Trash Folder in Kmail?
by Peter G.
In Kmail in F18ß, there is no trash folder. Is
this intentional?
The settings allow moving mail to trash, but
the folder is nowhere to be seen.

How do I initialize and use gnome-keyring in KDE?
by Lester M Petrie
I'm running fully up-to-date Fedora 17. When something crashes and wants to
submit a bug report, it wants to store the bugzilla login in the gnome-
keyring, but I don't have a gnome-keyring. How do I set this up so that I
don't have to always input the login data?

KNode problem with Eternal-September
by Timothy Murphy
I have a curious problem with KNode when accessing - or trying to access -
Eternal-September.
I have two very similar laptops (Thinkpad T60 and T61),
both running Fedora-17/KDE .
On one of them, when I try to get new articles from Eternal-September
I am asked to enter the password, and this is never accepted -
I am simply asked to enter it again and again.
On the other laptop, I have no problem -
on pressing B, all the new articles are listed.
As far as I can see, the setup on both laptops is identical.
The username and password are given in
KNode=>Settings=>Configure KNode=>Accounts
with the same server news.eternal-september.org
and the same port 119.
And I also have the password saved in the wallet on both machines.
If anyone can suggest why this happens I would be very grateful.
I might say that
telnet news.eternal-september.org 119
gets me through to the server.
Unfortunately I am not sure what dialog should follow.
