how to set panel icons for applications without them
by Chris Rouch
I have a couple of applications which do not set a specific icon for
use in the kde4 panel (ie. in smooth tasks). Instead the default X
with a circle round it is shown. Is there a way to configure icons for
applications without them, either through the settings or by editing a
.desktop file or any other way?
Thanks,
Chris

Problem with virtual desktops
by Timothy Murphy
I am running Fedora-16 KDE on my laptop,
with 8 virtual desktops.
If I click on the pager widget in the panel
(not sure of the proper name for this)
highlighting eg desktop 3,
and then click on the Terminal icon in the panel,
a konsole window is opened,
but not in the desktop I chose.
As far as I can see, the desktop is more or less random.
This is annoying, because it often covers a window already in use.
How can I open a terminal in a given desktop, please?

f16/kde48 repo
by Rex Dieter
With kde-4.8.0 to be officially released any minute/day now, and to
forestall the deluge of questions like
* How do I get kde-4.8.x for f16
* When will kde-4.8.x be released for f16
and help get things tested, I threw together a (hopefully temporary)
backports repo,
http://repos.fedorapeople.org/repos/rdieter/kde48/
similar to what we did with f15/kde47
It contains just the minimal builds needed to get up and running with
kde-4.8.0 (as opposed to kde-unstable repo that has other stuff like
calligra).
Hopefully, this will lower the bar and make it easier to use, and get
more folks using and testing it. Oh, and to answer question 2 above,
well just have to wait and see how testing goes. Please do give feedback.
Enjoy.

Mercurial replacement for kdesvn?
by Lester M Petrie
Hi
We have recently changed from using svn to mercurial, and I would like something equivalent to kdesvn that
will interface to mercurial. Does anyone have any suggestions. Thanks.

Disabling unused speller language variants
by Tomas Straupis
Hello
Is there a way to disable (remove) non required speller variants
(say English has much more variants than I need)?
To be more precise, I would like to leave just one English variant
displayed in all KDE apps (say kmail, kwrite, konqueror etc.).
Couldn't find anything on google... Tried looking at aspell/hunspell
documentation with no luck... because I do not understand where does
KDE get a list of languages anyway.
Thank you
P.S. f15, kde4.6.5 (will upgrade soon so if it is possible in
f16/kde4.8 - it's fine too)
