nntp (aka, usenet) client in kde?
by Gene Smith
I currently use t-bird with an nntp account pointing to gmane to read
this list and sereral others. Does kde have an nntp client program of
any sort? I don't see it as a possible new account type in kmail. Also,
search with kpackagekit yields nothing with "usenet" or "nntp" that is
kde specific.

kde builds for el6 status update
by Rex Dieter
Quick status update on el6 kde builds hosted @ kde-redhat repos...
* I moved the kde-4.10.x stuff from kde-unstable to kde-testing, finally.
* Over the past couple of says, started working on kde-4.11.x builds,
should be showing up in kde-unstable real soon, as soon as I work my way
through the last batch of stuff that doesn't build cleanly:
http://kdeforge2.unl.edu/kde-redhat/mock/needswork/
Enjoy.

We can consider it. Looks like 4.13 may land some significant changes
(nepomuk -> baloo change), so will require careful scrutiny and testing.

nepomuk tags for digikam?
by Richard Z
Hi,
noticed that digikam is quite prone to crashes and other problems in F19,
what would be the first choice KDE program to manage picture collections?
My priority is good tag management.. and I would need to import an old tag
database so some database that is accessible to scripting would be a great
advantage
Thanks

F21 in late summer. KApps 4.13 in F20?
by Markus Slopianka
Hi.
Considering that the core team wants to take its time to release F21,
KApps 4.x now have a shorter release cycle than 6 months, and kdelibs and
Plasma are in feature freeze anyway, is there a chance KApps 4.13 will end up
in F20?
Thanks.

F20: Some applications show wrong colours for some images when run in a KDE session
by Markus Schönhaber
Hi there,
since I upgraded to Fedora 20, some applications show some graphics with
wrong colours when run in a KDE session.
With "wrong" colours" I mean it looks like blue and green are swapped.
With "some applications" I mean especially Firefox and Thunderbird, but
also Krita.
Example: The waving Panda on the Fedora project's startpage
http://fedoraproject.org/static/images/panda-wave.png
In Firefox, the panda looks as if the panda was drawn in different
shades of green, the same in Krita and Gimp. In Konqueror and Chrome the
image looks blueish, as it should be.
Some things I noticed:
- I'm not entirely sure whether or not the problem only affects PNG
images, but every wrongly coloured image for which I actually checked
which graphics format it is stored in, it turned out to be PNG.
OTOH, not every PNG image is affected. For example, in Thunderbird and
Firefox the Thunderbird logo here
https://www.mozilla.org/thunderbird/release/start/
looks OK.
I just noticed that Krita and Gimp still show the image with wrong
colours (the bird is green).
- I see that behaviour when I run a Fedora KDE Spin live image but not
with the Gnome live image.
- The problem only occurs in a KDE session - not in a Gnome, Cinnamon or
XFCE session on the same machine. For example: I log into a KDE session,
start Firefox, navigate to the Fedora start page and see a green panda.
I log out of KDE and into Gnome and Firefox shows a blue Panda on the
start page (in fact, there is no problem with wrong colours in the Gnome
session at all - regardless of application or image).
- Info about my graphics card:
# lshw -class video

memory:f6000000-f607ffff
- Whether I use Nouveau or the proprietary Nvidia driver doesn't make
any difference. As I already wrote, I even see that in the KDE live image.
What can I do to pin the culprit of the problem - or maybe even fix it?

Akonadi and NVidia drivers from RPMFusion
by Eli Wapniarski
Just a heads up for NVidia users and users of the RPMFusion packages drivers.
Version 331.20 of the driver seems to crash Akonadi at KDE startup.
Version 331.38 seems to fix it. I had to uninstall the RPMFusion
drivers and use the drivers to from NVidia to confirm the findings
that was reported at:
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=326480
I reported the problem to RPMFusion at:
https://bugzilla.rpmfusion.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3144
I hope we see the newest drivers soon.... I do see them being played
with at RPMFusion's Rawhide repo :)
