font installation badness
by Glenn Holmer
Another unpleasantness I'm seeing with fonts is that when installing a
new font, the completion dialog ("Updating font configuration. Please
wait...") often spins endlessly and I have to kill systemsettings with
SIGKILL. Anyone else see that?

font badness
by Glenn Holmer
F23 KDE spin, all patches applied.
I see that font preview in system settings is still broken. Also, if you
bring up the font settings, most of them default to the first one in the
list rather than the currently set one.
Anyone else seeing this?

Importing VPN config using plasma-nm
by Patrick O'Callaghan
I'm attempting to set up a VPN to a commercial provider which doesn't
directly support Fedora (they do support Ubuntu and Mint). They supply
a .ovpn file for configuration, but I don't see anywhere in plasma-nm
where this can be imported.
Maybe I'm barking up the wrong tree. Any ideas, or do I have to do
everything manually?

Return to Plasma 5.4.2
by Hernán Ramírez
Hi all,
This month's updates for Plasma has turned my system unusable. The Network
manager does not connect to internet and i would like to undo the latest
changes.
How can i do it? Can i force the instalation of Plasma Workspaces 5.4.2
and all its dependencies would be installed among that versión?

dnf update must be wrong...
by Dariusz J. Garbowski
Hi,
There is something clearly broken with updates (dnf?) but I can't tell what:
1. In KDE I get a notification that there are 6 packages to update. So, as root, I run:
[root@localhost ~]# dnf repolist
Last metadata expiration check performed 2:22:09 ago on Mon Nov 16 19:27:21 2015.
repo id repo name status
*fedora Fedora 23 - x86_64 46,074

rpmfusion-free-updates-testing RPM Fusion for Fedora 23 - Free - Test Updates 182

[root@localhost ~]# dnf update

Complete!
Hmmm... no packages to update. But notification lists 6 packages, including ffmpeg and VirtualBox.
So I run:
[root@localhost ~]# rpm -qi VirtualBox
Name : VirtualBox
Version : 5.0.8
Release : 1.fc23
...
2. Let's then click install in "Software Updates" notification pop-up. Guess what! Packages are
downloading and installing.
Let's check:
[root@localhost ~]# rpm -qi VirtualBox
Name : VirtualBox
Version : 5.0.10
Release : 1.fc23
...
What??? Why hasn't dnf picked on this and updated VirtualBox?
Bonus question: what makes it possible for regular user to install packages via some widget in KDE?
How to disable this?
Regards,
Dariusz

Speaking of ark... I just noticed ark-15.08.x was ported to kf5, so updating would solve the issue too.
Any comment/objection to doing a ark-15.08.x update for f23 ?
Probably less incentive for f22, since we still ship kde4 dolphin there.

Thanks Florian, that solution fixed it.

Good point, I can add compatibility symlinks for kde4 servicemenus in kf5 ark.
Alternatively, we can do the same for kde4 ark, by addking kf5 compat servicemenu symilinks.

the most interesting question is how it acts with Konqueror which is my
favorite filebrowser all the time because bookmarks and i like the UI
much more as well as kfind with CTRL+F
afaik the current problems with folder view / dolphin missing this items
is that Konqueror is still a KDE4 application and finally they should
all have the same kontext menus again

F23: Extract here / Video Previews in dolphin
by Florian Sievert
Hi there,
I upgraded from F22 to F23 and know fighting with some nasty issues that
really affecting the daily work. I hope you can help with it.
1. I am trying to restore the thumbnails / preview for videos in KDE 5.
Not sure how it is supposed to work as some sources in the net says that
installing "ffmpegthumbnailer" would be fine enough for them. However,
nothing appears in the dolphin preview setting allowing to activate the
thumbs. This situation was very similiar with F22 already, however I
managed to rebuild "kffmpegthumbnailer" and it fixed the issue for me
(see also https://bugzilla.rpmfusion.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3719). When
trying to use this package, it will appear in preview, but seems to be
broken.
So anyone manage to get video thumbs in dolphin running and can give a
hint what might be missing here?
2. The option "Extract here" in dolphin seems to be missing. I noticed
that the package "ark" does provide the following files:
/usr/share/kde4/services/ServiceMenus/ark_addtoservicemenu.desktop
/usr/share/kde4/services/ServiceMenus/ark_servicemenu.desktop
However it seems like these files are not evaluated by F23 KDE5 anymore
and thus not working. I tried to fix this by symbolic linking it to
~/.local/share/kservices5/ServiceMenus, but still not being added. And
yes, kbuildsyscoca was performed multiple times. Anyone and idea why
these options does not appear in the context menu?
Many thanks for your help!
