sddm does not use my language settings
by Martin (KDE)
Hallo
since f22 I use sddm as my default login manager. It is running fine so far,
but it never shows text in my locale setting (German) but English instead.
Same is true for the language flag (USA instead of Germany). I even can not
switch between languages. If I click on the language selector only USA is
available. BUT as soon as I hit any key, the flag changed to Germany but the
language is still English.
How can I change the default language in sddm to german and select different
languages?

Missing services from Dolphin
by Sandro Mani
Hi
Since Dolphin got ported to KF5 with version 15.08.0, the file context
menu is missing entries such as the Ark archive actions.
There is an upstream issue [1], according to which the issue is caused
by konqpopupmenuplugin.desktop missing in /usr/share/kservicetypes5/.
Indeed, if I copy it from the kde4 location
/usr/share/kde4/servicetypes/, the missing entries re-appear in the
context menu. Upstream is undecided on how to fix this issue. Perhaps we
could ship this file downstream with some kf5 package, or perhaps with
dolphin itself, until this is sorted out?
Konsole output Thanks
Sandro

FTP shares created by eShare android app not accessible from Dolphin
by Syam Krishnan
Hi
I recently installed an app called eShare on my Android phone. The app
allows you to export any directory on the phone as an FTP share on the
local LAN so that you can download & upload files between your phone &
your PC.
But the FTP share created by the app is not accessible from Dolphin or
Konqueror. I get the error message "Could not enter folder ." from these
applications. The share works fine with Firefox, Opera and FileZilla.
I have filed a bug on KDe bug tracker against KIO FTP component, because
both Dolphin & Konqueror have the problem:
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=352644
Is it a case of any missing dependency or configuration? I tried
installing kio-ftps package, but that does not seem to be needed in this
case. FileZilla log says "Insecure server, it does not support FTP over
TLS.".
And it's not a generic problem with FTP & Dolphin. Other FTP sites (I
tested some public FTP servers from the Internet) work fine with Dolphi
& Konqueror.
Any ideas?

Re: kate: X11 Forwarding on F22
by Rex Dieter
Maybe questionable, but kde4 apps generally assume that kde-runtime is available and installed (the source of the dependencies in this case).
This is arguably better in f22 with kf5 konsole and (finer-grained) kde frameworks.

solved by just replace "kate" with "code-editor" and get rid of massive
dependencies questionable for a texteditor in general

kate: X11 Forwarding on F22
by Reindl Harald
[root@testserver:~]$ kate /etc/fstab
hangs there and dos nothing - why?
and yes, it's practical as admin pull several similar config files on a
headless admin server and edit them in a GUI editor to sync and compare
changes followed by push back with a script to the machines
frankly, kate is the only reason for X11 libraries on our admin servers

Help when upgrading from Fedora 22 to 23
by Hernán Ramírez
Hi all, i have made a clean install for Fedora 22 and i later updated it to
the latest.
I later followed the wiki guide: "Upgrading Fedora using yum"(1), i changed
the "yum" with the "dnf" command and tried using the "fedora-upgrade"
script.
Since it didnt work, i followed the manual way, this was the set of command
i followed from the Wiki:
# rpm --import /etc/pki/rpm-gpg/RPM-GPG-KEY-fedora-23-$(uname -i)
# dnf upgrade
# dnf clean all
This next command failed with dependencies, the command line asked me to
try with "-- allowerasing", but since it meant to remove running kernel, i
rebooted, used the 4.2 kernel to boot and i wrote then:
# dnf --releasever=23 --setopt=deltarpm=false distro-sync --nogpgcheck
--allowerasing
It worked fine, everything is updated, but just Dolphin doesnt work.
When i try to install "dolphin-15.04.3-1.fc23.x86_64", it tell me that
nothing provides "libballoowidgets.so.4() 64 bit",
The packages "kdegames-minimal-6:4.14.3-2.fc23.noarch" and Konqueror also
associates the same error.
Currently i can browse the web with Otter Browser, but Dolphin is very
needed for browsing the files.
Any help would be appreciated,
Hernan
