nntp (aka, usenet) client in kde?
by Gene Smith
I currently use t-bird with an nntp account pointing to gmane to read
this list and sereral others. Does kde have an nntp client program of
any sort? I don't see it as a possible new account type in kmail. Also,
search with kpackagekit yields nothing with "usenet" or "nntp" that is
kde specific.

Retrieving useful infos on running Plasmashell
by Germano Massullo
Today I have found out that plasma-desktop-5.5.1-1.fc23.x86_64 was using
1,9 GiB of RAM.
I would like to know if running
$ gdb
(gdb) attach "plasmashell's_pid"
can help to retrieve useful infos (for a bugreport) while the process is
running.
If you have any other suggestion, feel free to reply.
Thank you

kwallet(4 not 5) no longer working
by Andreas Petzold
Hi,
after installing the latest updates from kde-testing, kwalletmanager can't
open the old wallet anymore. It says " Error opening the wallet
*kdewallet*. Please try again. (Error code -9: Read error - possibly
incorrect password.) The new kwallet(5) is still working.
The currently installed kwallet rpms are:
kf5-kwallet-5.18.0-1.fc23.x86_64
kwalletmanager-15.04.3-2.fc23.x86_64
kwalletmanager5-15.08.3-1.fc23.x86_64
kf5-kwallet-libs-5.18.0-1.fc23.x86_64
Does anyone else see a similar problem?
Currently, I'm not using pam-kwallet which in its latest version seems to
cause problems of its own.
Cheers,
Andreas

knotes
by Walter Cazzola
Dear KDE Experts,
I'm running KDE (Plasma 5) on my Fedora23 machine and using knotes to
keep my notes.
I've manually upgraded them from the previous version of KDE and for a
while everything was going well but for some KDE internal problems
akonadi stopped working and I'd to remove all its configuration files to
have it running again. This implied that I lost my calendars, contacts
and notes (all managed by akonadi and kpim applications).
Re-adding the services has worked for calendars and contacts but not for
notes. In this last case knotes is starting but it is not showing my
notes (it is ready only for new notes).
My notes are still there in the directory
.kde/share/apps/knotes/new
each notes in a separate file but simply invisible to the knotes
application. It seems that the note.ics file is empty and I don't know
how to relink it to the old notes.
Any suggestions?
Thank you
Walter

kde-filesystem in kde-redhat EL6
by Orion Poplawski
Once upon a time, it appears that kde-filesystem-4-42.el6.1 was in the KDE EL6
repos, but is no longer. Is this change intentional?
Current RHEL6 appears to have kde-filesystem-4-30.1.el6.

Re: KWrite has started using unknown file-type icon.
by Rex Dieter
I think I see the problem, the kwrite icon is currently packaged in the kate rpm.
Thanks for the heads-up.

Hi,
Something broke Kwrite icon. It's now using default unknown icon. I have
deleted both ~/.config and ~/.kde icon cache files but that didn't help. See the
attached screenshot of the new broken kwrite icon.
