nntp (aka, usenet) client in kde?
by Gene Smith
I currently use t-bird with an nntp account pointing to gmane to read
this list and sereral others. Does kde have an nntp client program of
any sort? I don't see it as a possible new account type in kmail. Also,
search with kpackagekit yields nothing with "usenet" or "nntp" that is
kde specific.

time to orphan/retire unmaintained uncommon kde4 language bindings?
by Rex Dieter
Looking over some broken deps reports, I came across some old packages:
kdebindings
smokeqt
smokekde
qyoto (csharp/mono)
kimono (csharp/mono)
ruby-qt
ruby-korundum
perl-Qt
Of these, the only one that's not a pure leaf package is perl-Qt (debconf-
kde depends on it).
any comment or objection to considering orphaning most (all minus
smokeqt/perl-Qt) or all of these ?

Fedora 25 + Nvidia
by Tom Back
Hi everyone,
I've installed F25 on a system with an old Nvidia Quadro NVS 110 GPU.
The RPMFusion driver didn't work so I installed the proprietary using
this guide: https://www.if-not-true-then-false.com/2015/fedora-nvidia-guide/
Briefly summarized, it uses a patched version of the 304.xx driver,
blacklists Nouveau, and registers the kernel modules with DKMS for easy
kernel upgrades.
It works great except for one hitch: I can only run Plasma in 2D. If
compositor with OpenGL is enabled, everything slows to full stop.
Disabling compositor with Shift+Alt+F12 brings the desktop back to life.
I'm at a loss about how to troubleshoot this. If anyone has experience
with this issue I would love to hear your suggestions.
Best regards,
Tom

I normally have two session open in KDE but don't have that issue. I do
have a fixed Xorg.conf file and that may make the difference.

What happened to Open with
by Emmett Culley
After a fresh install of Fedora 25, not formatting my home partition, I find that neither Dolphin nor Konqueror have an open with menu item. Why is that and how can I get that functionality back?

multi screen issues
by ProPAAS DBA
All;
I'm running Fedora 24 KDE spin on a thinkpad X1 carbon 4th gen laptop. I
have 2 external monitors and most often they work well, I plug one into
the hdmi port and a second via a vga adapter into the laptop's mini
display port.
More and more often I'm having issues when I plug in the external
monitors. The menu & taskbar/panel jumps around asI plug in the
monitors. I want this to stay on the laptop. Even though the display
settings shows the laptop as the primary screen
Sometimes one of the external monitors will show up with no background,
I can move the mouse to it and I can drag windows to it but I cannot
right click on the background and get a menu.
I've even tried manually controlling the monitors via xrandr, the last
time I had issues my panel moved to a secondary monitor, xrandr reported
that the laptop was indeed still set as the primary, running "xrandr
--output eDP-1 --primary" had no effect. I generally have to reboot 5 or
6 times to get the external monitors to behave. Sometimes I actually
have to remove my .config directory before it will work.
Can anyone help me debug this?
Thanks in advance

Update fails while updating qt5-qtdeclarative on F25
by José Abílio Matos
In the last update, today, I noticed this problem:
# dnf upgrade --best
Last metadata expiration check: 2:04:30 ago on Mon Dec 19 13:21:51 2016.
Error: package qt5-qtdeclarative-doc-5.7.0-2.fc25.noarch requires qt5-
qtdeclarative = 5.7.0-2.fc25, but none of the providers can be installed
...
Removing qt5-qtdeclarative-doc allows the upgrade process to complete without
issues, it upgrades:
qt5-qtdeclarative
qt5-qtdeclarative-devel
qt5-qtdeclarative-static
qt5-qtwebkit
qt5-qtwebkit-devel
