How to set default session type to Plasma for sddm

Hi How do I set the default session type for sddm to offer to be Plasma? I'm currently getting Gnome Classic? This is F22. Thanks Roderick Johnstone

nntp (aka, usenet) client in kde?

I currently use t-bird with an nntp account pointing to gmane to read this list and sereral others. Does kde have an nntp client program of any sort? I don't see it as a possible new account type in kmail. Also, search with kpackagekit yields nothing with "usenet" or "nntp" that is kde specific. -gene

session restore broken?

After the latest updates, saved session restore no longer restarts Thunderbird and Firefox. Is anyone else seeing this? -- Glenn Holmer (Linux registered user #16682) "After the vintage season came the aftermath -- and Cenbe."

xorg-x11-drv-intel-2.99.917-19.20151206.fc23 (re)enabled dri3 by default

In the not-too-distant past, a xorg-x11-drv-intel update reverted back to default dri2 because dri3 was to unstable and too-often resulted in plasmashell freezes, see also: https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2015-8616 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1223477 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1223477 A new update came this past week turning dri3 back on, https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2016-606ca05253 Please help test this if you are able. For *me*, it's pretty good, but I've now experienced at least 3 plasmashell deadlocks (when left idle and screen off) similar to past results when using dri3. And... oddly, chrome seems to freeze similar to plasmashell sometimes too. -- Rex

copyq - qt based advanced clipboard manager

I just pushed a new testing update out to bodhi on this and realized that I may not have advised folks that copyq is available in the fedora repos. For those of you who are unfamiliar with it here is a link to a recent review article: http://goo.gl/1oMjHv It requires qt5 and has remarkable set of options. The project is active and updates are pushed in a timely manner. The one criticism I've seen is that it is "too advanced" and people get lost in the options. That really isn't the case. If you use the vanilla setup, it works just like any other clipboard manager. The advantage is if you want to do some neat things with your clipboard data, copyq will help you do it easily. Of course, if you want to play around, you need to RTFM. For those who like eye candy, the system area icon is animated and the scissors will "cut" when you clip something for the clipboard. Enjoy!

ssh-agent emulation in gpg-agent stopped working

Hello everyone, i'm managing my ssh key password with the ssh-agent emulation using gpg-agent which stopped working recently. When i ssh some machine the output is Enter passphrase for key '/home/user/.ssh/id_rsa': instead of pinentry-qt popping up asking for my password and i have to retype the password every time. /etc/kde/env/gpg-agent-startup.sh is started automatically on login and here is my gpg-agent config file: ~/.gnupg/gpg-agent.conf: default-cache-ttl 36000 pinentry-program /usr/bin/pinentry-qt enable-ssh-support allow-loopback-pinentry Anyone running into the same troubles? Some hint to alternatives would also be appreciated. Best wishes Michael

Kmail Won't Start

All of a sudden, Kmail will not start. I get this error: The Email program encountered a fatal error and will terminate now. Plasma 5.7.1 issues

Since upgrade to Plasma 5.7.1, I have a bunch of new issues: - I am unable to assign a shortcut to my application launcher. It simply is not saved any more. No related errors in .xsession-errors. - I am unable to get my screens to go to standby mode. Changing power settings does not help. Even setting standby manually with `xset` does not work any more (radeonsi driver). - Every second or so, 5 duplicate lines (10 lines total) are written to .xsession-errors: kde.systemtray: Wrong IconThemePath "/usr/share/pixmaps/pidgin/tray" : too short or does not end with 'icons' kde.systemtray: Wrong IconThemePath "/home/raman/.local/share/icons:/home/raman/.icons:/usr/share/kde-settings/kde-profile/default/share/icons:/usr/local/share/icons:/usr/share/icons:/usr/share/kde-settings/kde-profile/default/share/pixmaps:/usr/local/share/pixmaps:/usr/share/pixmaps" : too short or does not end with 'icons' All of these issues when upgrading KDE (even relatively minor updates like 5.6 to 5.7) are certainly frustrating. It really seems like the KDE and QT teams have serious QC issues. Regards, Raman

Fedora/KDE boot graphics

Am I alone in finding what I see on the screen when re-booting very drab, and much inferior to what Fedora/KDE used to provide? Is it possible to choose a more interesting non-default setup? I find the slowly filling horizontal line under the K icon particularly boring; it makes the Microsoft rotating circle seem like an exciting entry into the Windows world. In older versions of Fedora/KDE various icons used to appear in order, showing what was happening at that moment during the re-boot.
