Looking over some broken deps reports, I came across some old packages: kdebindings smokeqt smokekde qyoto (csharp/mono) kimono (csharp/mono) ruby-qt ruby-korundum perl-Qt Of these, the only one that's not a pure leaf package is perl-Qt (debconf- kde depends on it). any comment or objection to considering orphaning most (all minus smokeqt/perl-Qt) or all of these ? -- Rex

nntp (aka, usenet) client in kde?

I currently use t-bird with an nntp account pointing to gmane to read this list and sereral others. Does kde have an nntp client program of any sort? I don't see it as a possible new account type in kmail. Also, search with kpackagekit yields nothing with "usenet" or "nntp" that is kde specific. -gene

Windows key to launch menu stops working

I discovered in a recent update that KDE now directly supports the "windows" key for launching the start menu. So I removed ksuperkey and the auto-start entry, and everything works fine! Except that after some time, it stops working. So far I haven't been able to pin down a specific action that causes it to break, but I am trying to do so. Has anyone else seen this?

kmail no longer works

There was a gpgme update last night and this morning I notice that kmail doesn't work any longer. When I start it from the command line, I get the error message: kmail: relocation error: /lib64/libKF5Gpgmepp-pthread.so.5: symbol gpgme_pubkey_algo_string, version GPGME_1.1 not defined in file libgpgme.so.11 with link time reference

Sound management seems to be broken.

Hello, I have been having problems related to my Plasma 25 install on multiple levels. 1. Sound is unclear and there is a lot of noise. I also hear random crackle/blip from time to time. There a blip I hear when I connect my earphones. This all seems like a hardware problem to me. Possibly the speakers on my 2 month old system have give up. I tried older ISO to see if it is a software problem but it occurs on older version of Fedora and Ubuntu too. That being said the biggest problem is software based. 2. The earphone detection is broken. It has a mind of its own. It may or may not recognize my earphone. I have to either kill pulseaudio or restart session to get sound. 3. Audio settings tell me there are three recording devices on my system - Internal Microphone, Microphone, and Headphone Microphone. The first and last one makes sense but not the Microphone. Which device is it? Do you guys have similar experiences or ideas on how to fix it?

Rawhide: black screen after login

I had a virtual machine in Virtualbox with Fedora Rawhide on it. In the last days I always got a black screen after login, I can only see mouse pointer and bring up the process manager (with CTRL-ESC), but nothing more. I thought about my machine was broken somehow, so I've reinstalled it from scratch... but I get the same result. I don't think it's a Virtualbox graphic problem because the process manager window shows up fine... is anyone experiencing the same issue? Maybe plasma-desktop is broken in rawhide? Thanks Mattia

I use ibus to enter Chinese and Japanese text. Sometimes when I login to my KDE session all the ibus process have started and i can switch input methods by using the WindowsKey+Space. However, the ibus icon does not appear in the system tray and there is no IBus Panel in the System Tray Settings "Entries" options. If I restart plasmashell the icon shows as well as the entry in Settings. Not sure what component to report this against or how to begin to debug. -- Fedora Users List - The place to go to get others to do the work for you

Plasma 5.x vs Fedora KDE rollout schedules

Team, apologies in advance for my question if it sounds inconvenient. The Plasma 5 development team maintains a detailed rollout schedule currently reaching 5.11. Does the Fedora KDE spin dev team work on a release schedule for Fedora KDE attempting to match in some way the dates foreseen for Plasma versions? Or is the decision on incorporating new Plasma 5 releases made on a case by case basis, considering its suitability (makes sense or not), resources available etc.? I assume that resources to maintain Fedora KDE may be limited, but it would be nice to have some visibility on when upcoming releases of Plasma 5 will be added to which Fedora KDE versions, even if tentative. In the present situation, as an example, how is the team manipulating the current availability of 5.9, the planned launch of 5.10 (end of May) and the planned GA for Fedora 26 (mid June)? Any insights would be welcome! Thank you.

drop kdiff3?

kdiff3 is FTBFS on rawhide, problem is here: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/attachment.cgi?id=1252769 it seems kdebase4-devel is missing. kdiff3 was last updated in 2014, and requires kde4. Will we have to stop support for kdiff3?

something wrong with plasma update widget since 2017

The update widget runs automatically, even though I turned off automatic updates in system settings. Still, when I right- click on the widget, a completely different and reduced set of options appears, which does not include turning it off. While I don't mind it running, even though I do all of my system updating on the command line, the widget runs every hour or more, it would appear and generates endless error output, always the following: "The task was forcibly canceled The task was canceled successfully and no packages were changed. The backend did not exit cleanly." How can I either have it run correctly or just turn it off?

Dolphin does not display svg icons for directories

Hi, this is tiny annoyance that appeared sometime (probably more than one year). In dolphin I like to personalize the icons for some directories in my home. In one of those directories I use a svg icon and sometime ago (probably more than one year) this stopped to work. The interesting thing is that I use the right button to get the properties of the directory the icon shows correctly there. Is this a bug or a non feature that worked by accident before? Again this is minor in the sense that there are workarounds but it would be nice to be able to use svg. Regards, -- José Abílio

Locked screen doesn't stay in energy saving mode

Hi Fully updated F24 system running Plasma desktop. Dual screen setup. Screen locks correctly after time set in Energy Saving / Suspend session After Screen goes into energy saving (screen blanks) after time set in Energy Saving / Screen Energy Saving Switch off after But then the screen immediately comes out of energy saving and sits for ever with the screen locker displayed. Anyone else see this? Any ideas how to fix would be appreciated. Thanks. Roderick Johnstone

My question is about Wayland. Using, sddm, is Xorg the default unless you enable Wayland in the sddm.conf file? I am about to upgrade three other machines and with Nvidia not supporting Wayland, then I want to ensure that I can still use the Nvidia closed source drivers.

Qupzilla - Can't add speed dials

Using 2.1.0 - is anyone else having issues with speed dial... this is the first time I've tried it, and it just hangs there when I try to add one... the first 4 defaults added OK by themselves, but when I deleted and tried to re-add - same thing... just hangs. When I open up the dialog, just says http:// the info I entered wasn't saved...

I would like to raise awareness among the community, on gam_server bug that is ruining Plasma user experience: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=917848#c47 In a few words, gam_server is causing many KDE related processes to raise CPU and RAM usage, leading to applications freeze. Is anybody experiencing it?
