nntp (aka, usenet) client in kde?
by Gene Smith
I currently use t-bird with an nntp account pointing to gmane to read
this list and sereral others. Does kde have an nntp client program of
any sort? I don't see it as a possible new account type in kmail. Also,
search with kpackagekit yields nothing with "usenet" or "nntp" that is
kde specific.

time to orphan/retire unmaintained uncommon kde4 language bindings?
by Rex Dieter
Looking over some broken deps reports, I came across some old packages:
kdebindings
smokeqt
smokekde
qyoto (csharp/mono)
kimono (csharp/mono)
ruby-qt
ruby-korundum
perl-Qt
Of these, the only one that's not a pure leaf package is perl-Qt (debconf-
kde depends on it).
any comment or objection to considering orphaning most (all minus
smokeqt/perl-Qt) or all of these ?

White spaces in Kmail (dark themes)
by Colin J Thomson
Hi,
After the recent updates of qt5-qtwebengine there are white spaces in the
message window when using a Dark Theme.
Another user has just reported this on kde.bugs with a screen shot
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=379406
I don't know if it is a kmail or qtwebengine bug or even related to mesa/
nouveau saga.

F26 Talking Points
by Eduard Lucena
Hi team,
I'm Eduard Lucena, and I'm here in the behalf of the Marketing team. As you
should know, we prepare a lists of highlights about each release, called
Talking Points:
Talking points are key highlights of the new release. There are different
> types of talking points for different types of people: general desktop
> users/everyone, developers, and sysadmins. They are meant to provide a
> short, effective answer to the question "What cool stuff is in the latest
> release of Fedora?" They are compelling, not necessarily comprehensive
>
This points help us, as Marketing team, as well to Ambassadors, to
publicize each release with the news and cool stuff.
For this matter and this release, we have this wiki page:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Fedora_26_talking_points and we will be
happy to include the new things in the KDE Spin.
You can help us in both ways:
1. Editing the wiki directly with the points.
2. Throwing us the list, and we will put them in the wiki.
Thanks in advance for your help and for your efforts.
Br,

Last update to kmail 17.04 fails with file conflict
by José Abílio Matos
Hi,
while updating to applications 17.04 I had a file conflict
between kmail 16.12 and kmail 17.04. I did not dig further.
Working around it allowed to proceed the update process.
After the installation while trying to get help from kmail I get the
"Documentation not Found" page.
Should I report this to bugzilla?

akonadi_imap_resource crash trying to modify IMAP account
by Steven Haigh
Hi all,
I've just decided to play with kmail again after a long time using
Thunderbird. I managed to set up my mail account ok, but when I go to:
Settings -> Configure Kmail -> Accounts
Then try to click 'Modify...' on 'IMAP Account 4' (the only imap mail
account), nothing happens. In the system journal, I can see that
akonadi_imap_resource has crashed. Dump below.
Has anyone else seen this?
I'm on Fedora 26 with the latest updates-testing installed.

System Settings --- Software Management Question
by Ed Greshko
I don't use the Software Management section shown under System
Administration of the System Settings GUI.
However today was helping an issue related to installing SW and happened
to click on one of the Groups shown and was greeted with a dialog
telling me: "A problem that we were not expecting has occurred. Please
report this bug with the error description". The description being:
"SearchGroups not supported by backend".
So, what "backend" is being referenced and is their a time table to
support the feature?

Some thoughts on Activity Manager
by Patrick O'Callaghan
Every time I log in I get a segfault on kactivitymanagerd. I've
reported it to the Fedora Bugzilla and I assume it will be upstreamed
to the KDE BZ.
I created a completely new user, logged in, and it immediately happened
again. The current version is:
kactivitymanagerd-5.9.5-1.fc25.x86_64
but it's been happening for a while now.
I've never used the Activity Manager and don't understand what it's for
in a system that already supports multiple VTs (kind of - the
KDE/Plasma version doesn't work well for me), as well as multiple
desktops which I do use extensively, so why do we need another layer of
multiplexing?
Personally, I would like to get rid of it, but that doesn't seem to be
possible without removing Plasma.
How many people actually use multiple Activities? Is there anything you
do with them that you couldn't do just as easily with multiple
desktops, or even multiple VTs?
