Autostart with a command-line argument
by Patrick O'Callaghan
I want to run something in the background on every login, but it
requires a command-line argument to start up:
insync-headless start
I could just package it in a shell script and leave it at that, but
surely there must be a way to do with directly from the Autostart
settings? I've tried the "run in a terminal" option but to no avail.

kde-sig and EPEL
by Troy Dawson
Hi All,
I'm going to be heavily involved with KDE on EPEL for the next year[1] and
it's brought up several questions about where EPEL work falls in with the
Fedora KDE SIG.
Documentation:
I have some things I would like to document. Things like the KDE in EPEL
update timeline and policy, and possibly package lists. Basically have a
place to point people when the same question get's asked many times.
Would that be better in the EPEL documentation area, or the KDE-SIG
documentation area?
Issues:
Currently I'm concerned with branching everything for the upcoming EPEL
releases[1]. It's something I'd like to open an issue on, is it ok to do
that on the KDE-SIG issue tracker?[2] Is that the right place, or would
there be a better place?
emails/announcements - this isn't really a problem, I just noticed that
I've been sending these all just to the EPEL side of things. I'm going to
start sending them to both EPEL and the fedora kde mailing list.
Thanks for any input
Troy Dawson
p.s. I should soon be able to attend kde-sig meetings. I've had a
conflict that will soon be changing.

Mysterious autostart behaviour
by Patrick O'Callaghan
I have a number of things listed in KDE's Autostart menu. These all
work correctly.
One thing that isn't listed is Ktorrent, yet it starts on every session
and has to be manually killed. I only ever use qBittorrent now though
I've occasionally used Ktorrent in the distant past, so some cruft may
have been left lying around.
It isn't listed anywhere in /etc/xdg/autostart, nor in any of the usual
.profile, .bashrc etc. places.
Is there anywhere else I should look?

How do I switch users in KDE?
by Patrick O'Callaghan
According to https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=427777 it should be
possible to switch users from the KDE lock screen, however I don't seem
to have this functionality.
Related question: is it possible to have two different DEs on different
virtual consoles (if necessary with two distinct users)? For example,
one with KDE and another with Gnome. I know this used to be possible in
some previous iterations of KDE/Plasma, but there may be limitations
due to SDDM.
