time to orphan/retire unmaintained uncommon kde4 language bindings?

Looking over some broken deps reports, I came across some old packages: kdebindings smokeqt smokekde qyoto (csharp/mono) kimono (csharp/mono) ruby-qt ruby-korundum perl-Qt Of these, the only one that's not a pure leaf package is perl-Qt (debconf- kde depends on it). any comment or objection to considering orphaning most (all minus smokeqt/perl-Qt) or all of these ? -- Rex

Plama 6 testing

I have install f39 and upgraded to rawhide so that I can test Plasma 6 on my NVIDIA desktop. Have only been testing for a couple of hours, mostly changing settings to my preferred style. So far I have a working system using the nouveau driver. I'll move on to see if I test with the rpmfusion driver (I have not checked to see if its available). I am seeing this error as I test my Qt6 apps. "The cached device pixel ratio value was stale on window expose. Please file a QTBUG which explains how to reproduce." I'm wonder if it's worth waiting for beta 2 in rawhide to see if this is still an issue before working up a minimal reproducer. Is this the best place to discuss plasma 6? Barry

Thanks for the responses. It's definitely still alive so PLEASE don't ignore it. This problem has just appeared with version 4.0 which was released about a year ago. The problem also seems to have appeared in Fedora 40 and this version of konsole "konsole5-23.08.3-1.fc40.x86_64 : KDE Terminal emulator". The problem now appears in multiple versions of "the" and multiple versions of "ncurses". I have been using it for quite a few years (since at least 1995) without this kind of problem. Task switcher doesnt work

Hello just got a new laptop and installed Fedora KDE. After fiddling with the system settings in for a while to setup as I want things to look and behave I notised that fx. Alt-Tab doesn't work any more. The task switcher pane is disabled. 'I cannot find a way to bring it back in function. default firewall zone

Hello, I remember when Fedora Workstation SIG, opened firewall ports 1025-65535/udp 1025-65535/tcp by default, and Fedora KDE SIG decided to maintain with the more strict rule of having all ports closed. I just found out that Fedora KDE spin has now the same default firewall rules of Fedora Workstation. May I ask when this change has been performed and the pagure ticket number? Thank you

[KDE] dnf output colors in Konsole

What controls the color of text output in terminals using DNF? I recommend using the rpmfusion vuild of the nvidia drivers. See https://rpmfusion.org/Howto/NVIDIA You will have to unistall the drivers you from nvidia first. I have a bug raised against kde about issue staying logged: See https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2252447 What i ended up doing until this resolved is: sudo dnf downgrade kde-wayland sudo reboot Does that work for you? Black screen after login to F39

I upgraded from Fedora 38 to Fedora 39 on an AMD Ryzen 5 5600 with Nvidia Geforce RTX 3050 graphics card. I'm running KDE Plasma-X11, not Wayland. I tried to install the GPU drivers several ways using repos/RPMs, but was not successful. I am using the Nvidia proprietary drivers. They support dual monitors with no problems; I've had problems with the nouveau driver and dual monitors in the past. I start the system in multi-user (CLI) mode and then run "startx" to start X11 and Plasma. (I started doing this in F38 because of sddm hanging, which I was not able to resolve.) When I log in with my user account and run startx, I get a black screen (extending across both monitors) with an X cursor. The cursor moves in response to the mouse, but neither left or right mouse button do anything. I can get to an alternate console using alt-F3 and kill the login. I have discovered a bit of a rain dance to get a working system. I can log in as root, run startx, and get a working KDE Plasma-X11 screen. Then I log out to the sddm screen and log in again with my user account. After this, everything (or almost everything) works correctly. I've checked the system logs and the Xorg log for any error or warning messages, but nothing looks incorrect or at all informative. Does anyone have any suggestions or insights into this problem? -- Michael Eager

KDE wayland recent update break with rpmfusion nvidia drivers

I have been seeing issues with being force out of plasma wayland back to the login prompt after a ~10s of logging in. I have raise 2 bugs: • fedora kde - 2252447 – kwin_wayland hangs with nvidia 545 driver desktop unusable 1 • rpmfusion nvidia - 6807 – The nvidia 545 driver crashes kwin_wayland 2 As the nvidia driver had updated from the 535 to the 545 versions I guessed they were at fault. But a comment from the nvidia driver maintainer suggested that its a recent KDE change that is responsible. I had already down grade from 545 to 535 nvidia drivers, but some issues persisted. Now I testing with downgraded kde-wayland and that seems to give be stablity. i.e. I can login and stay logged in. My next test, tomorrow, will be to put back the 545 drivers and see if old kde-wayland and lastest nvidia work. Anyone else seeing issues? Barry

Upgrade KDE Wayland Spin 38->39 KDE Background Screen Issue KDE Screen Issue (or Plasma issue, or...) 1) Login screen comes up and can login. 2) KDE screen mix of colors and black... moving mouse and screen continues to redraw random colors (but, mostly black). 3) Bottom panel (in hide mode) comes up and looks normal. Top ToolBar is drawing like the screen (not normal) but I can tell its being drawn ontop of the screen background (different colors/black). 5) Firefox comes up rendering like normal. 6) Thunderbird asks for password and it comes up drawing like normal. 7) Using Mouse Right Button, menu come up (look normal) and can 8 "Open Terminal". Kconsole comes up like normal. 9) From Kconsole can launch alacritty multiple times all normal. 10) Background and ToolBar still not rendering correctly. 11) Can move mouse over ToolBar and popups appear. Can also click and launch/hide terminals, firefox, thunderbird when mouse if over their position in ToolBar. 12) I can render a jpeg photo in eog and it comes up just fine. With Fedora 38 KDE Spin I did not have this issue with the background or ToolBar. So, has anyone seen this behavior? Where do I start? Thanks.
