Nope, no longer there... looked on my laptop and found that it should be:
default.png -> ./f27/default/standard/f27.png

So I can just manually recreate it... but yeah, it wasn't recreated during the upgrade process for some reason.

Does /usr/share/backgrounds/default.png symlink exist and is valid?

It's provided by desktop-backgrounds-compat, we've seen reports of that
symlink getting broken from time to time (no idea how that happens).
