After posting this, I opened KMail, and it was in an unuseable state.
I closed it, ran "akonadictl restart" (without "sudo"),
and it is working fine.
But why do I have to run akonadictl repeatedly?
Take a look at the logs in .local/share/akonadi/ to see if there any akonadi
startup errors. -A
