In cases such as this the first thing I do is "tailf /var/log/messages" as I
plugin the device to see if the kernel is detecting anything....
I do but omitted to mention that I checked "messages" as well.
Note..
After an update today, the Camera is now fine but not the USB pen drive, which
maybe related to this bug:
